Q8, PMS SEND TO THOSE WITH ISSUES BLF soda can light

Testing now with full 30q, the led no work. In my case no changes.

thanks!

Thank you.

According to flaky tracking # and with the grace of incompetent Danish customs and postal service ( in this case both handled by Danish postal )
Then i might take possession of my Q8 tomorrow

So i have been busy with my soldering iron on cells and a BEC for my RC hobby that had to get a little attention too.

Funny thing, while solder blobbing the LG cells it was a fair bit slower for my soldering iron to get some heat into the battery for a good solder as opposed to the Sony cells.
For sure my soldering iron was at full tilt when i soldered the LG cells first, so i can only assume there may be a difference in the thickness of that end cap i am soldering on.

Anyways things are good, and i look forward to lighting up Randers where i live, and i have the police station firmly in my sights, cuz they so often flash other people so i think its only fair to return the favor on the 2-3 guys thatā€™s there on the station at night.

So many posts.

Everyone who is not happy - you realise you can just go to a local store and get a Nitecore TMxx for $$$ right if you donā€™t want to wait? Of course your going to pay 6x as much and have 1/6th of the fun

I canā€™t believe BLF members donā€™t have another light to use while they wait? :person_facepalming:
(most who are not in therapy probably ordered another 3 lights since page 439)

Miller - doing a great job there, I hope the referral thing is covering the bar bill for you and the rest of the team.

Its a $40 light from China thatā€™s unique - itā€™s worth the wait - stopping to check if the switch assembly needs correction was the right idea IMHO - else BangGood is just going to get hit with PayPal claims then the whole thing turns bad for everyone. +1 for Thorfire for maintaining their reputation - they only have to look at Astrolux and the S42 to see how important this is in the long term.

I just hope Santa brings it - and any sooner is bonus :+1:

sparkyDK, that is some fancy charger you got there, wowsers
thanks for the kind words whitecitadel

Phew, finally managed to get through the recent updates.
Itā€™s said that what got shipped is different from the last prototypes. I hope weā€™ll be able to avoid such issues in the future lights.
I fully support the decision to stop production Iā€™ll gladly wait to get a better light, even though this feature doesnā€™t matter much to me.
The Team, thank you for your work. :+1:

Gentetaurus, are you saying that elfeland actually has some q8ā€™s in stock. Or is it the same pay and wait and waitā€¦.zzzzzzz

So I took my tracking # from bgā€™s website and plugged it directly into FedEx website and got a result.

Track17 did not work.

Mine was delivered to California on the 15th and is expected to get to me on the 27th. So in my case the delay doesnā€™t seem to be BG but rather with fedex.

Go figure. 8 days from. China to CA and 12 days from CA to NY. Iā€™m expecting that it will arrive before the 27th as it is in Minnesota now.

and from Local FedEx to USPS to your door will be 3 days.

It doesnā€™t really matter greatly when I receive mine either Bc. When I paid for mine I understood that I was buying them as a pre-order.

FedEx is definitely responsible for the slow delivery to the east coast. My lights were in LA for 2-3 days before even being picked up by FedEx even after having had the labels put on them. Now theyā€™re traveling cross country and will take 10 days to do so. Thatā€™s extremely slow delivery service. But I assume thatā€™s what was paid for by the shipper. I took free shipping so Iā€™m really not complaining, itā€™s just an observation. I didnā€™t know that FedEx had bicycle express delivery.

Iā€™d like to thank the design team for doing a great job on the lights and everyone else connected with them. The Miller you have the patience of Job. What a shame that Thorfire changed the design from the prototype to the finished product and minor problems have resulted from that. One really DOA light out of hundreds in users hands is pretty good. But even so, including the switch LED problems the failure rate is still only near 1. Of course weā€™ll know more after all of the 500 lights get into user hands. But I would expect it to be not higher than 2. Higher than anyone would like, but still not terrible.

For what itā€™s worth, I too ordered the light through Aliexpress from the Elfeland Outdoor Lighting Store.

I placed my order on Sept. 15th, and late yesterday got a notice that my light has shipped. Tracking is showing that it has departed the sorting center.

Inscrutable - Synonyms: enigmatic, mysterious, unreadable, inexplicable, unexplainable, impenetrable, unfathomable, unknowableā€¦

1. Iā€™m ok with the suspension in production while they make sure they have it right.
2. I donā€™t care for the lighted side switch and will disable mine upon delivery.
3. I have 6 Nitecore lights, 2 that donā€™t have a potential for alignment and the other 4 are mis-aligned. (one of those 2 is the cast EC4, the other is the Concept 1)
4. We used to EXPECT a $40 light to have issues that needed fixing, some of us looked forward to it so we could mod them into better lights.
5. Suffering is suffering, always a perception issue. Some people work themselves up over almost nothing while others are able to absorb extremes without a blink. Such is life.
6. Who wants to step into The Millerā€™s shoes to solve these comparatively trivial issues? Certainly not I!
7. Custom BLF designs eQ8 to a fantastic experience, this one an epic adventure of gigantic proportions that will most definitely be remembered for quite a while! Thanks Team, nice workā€¦

I wonder how long it takes to see cheap low quality clones of our Q8 as it happened with former SRK ā€¦

l can bet not that longā€¦.somewhere in China l am 101% sure someoneā€™s lathe is already churning out tubes.

It ā€˜appearsā€™ it was just a faulty solder joint Jasonā€¦ Nothing more as far as I know now.
No more questions about this please. I will report final results about this tonight or in the morning.
I think I have deleted ever reference I have made to this except the original report. I canā€™t delete quotes though.
I am pretty tired of getting RUDE marks for trying to do the right thing in reporting this & then being accused of being vague & elusive about it after PMā€™s with The Miller & TomE about what was going on.
So be itā€¦ no more answers from me till it is fixed or goes to TomE.
That is all.

All the while l really thought BLFā€™ers got the first crack of all the production capacity considering the number of interested people in the list, and now the backlogā€¦.l wonder how many percent of the production were appropriated initially or diverted to this dealer.

l feel sorry for the Q8 team who worked so hard to make this project a reality and also of equal importance are the thousands of people who expressed interest and eventually ordered and paid, only to be torpedoed by Elfeland.

Btw, who owns Elfeland?

This is my question also. I wonder if they have stock right now, itā€™s really un telling how long it will take through banggood especially when other organizations seemingly are getting access to the ā€œfaultyā€ ones already produced. Does this mean those 2000 lights are not going to be disassembled and then reassembled with corrected indicator lights, or is thorfire making new ones and allowing the others to be sold to other vendors. Perhaps the Miller could try to find out for us because if so this is rediculous. I ordered on September the 7th at 7:00 pm central us time. I have yet to receive any shipping notice whatsoever and it still shows backorder on banggood website. If the above is correct, thorfire is going to have a lot of unhappy customers.

I have a question for Thorfire: Which type of anodisation has the Q8?
