My nichia just arrived. Very nice tint and beam.
It’s pretty bright. I’m yet to test at night.
My first thoughts:
The box is really nice make it feel premium when opening.
The light feels heavy and but very solid built. Dedinerly heavier than a imalent Dt70 or niwalker mm15mb.
The battery carrier feels so well built and sturdy, heavy too.

Really liking it. Might even have to order another later on.
Now I’ll have to test a bit more at night and see if it all is working well. But we’ll with it.
Definitely feels like twice the price we paid.
Hopefully astrolux can keep up this quality from now on. Haven’t had much luck on the S41ss and S42.

S41(XP-G3 or 219B) imalent Dt70 was previously owned.
Here it seems that the reputation of S41 S42 is bad, why?

Based on Silicoon pics, i suspect MF-01 XP-G3 tint will be fairly close to S41S version. You are right, DQG is more yellow than green, i remembered wrongly.

Yes, I know. I have one. It’s a bit on the neutral side, hint of yellow, with a little bit of green. I was wondering how the xp-g3 used in this MF01 compared. If it’s the same, I won’t like it. If it’s a bit whiter, then I would.

That picture shows the NW version of the dqg. I’ve got the CW version and it has a hint of yellow in it. So I’m trying to compare CW DQG 7X with CW MF-01. If anyone has this combination please let me know how they compare.

The initial batch of S41 were, due to bad design, prone to shorts at the mounting screws for the LED board. Shorting a Li-Ion is no fun… Later batches have been quite OK.

The initial batch of S42 had a battery tube that was too short for basically all 18350:s on the market. The S42 is still plagued by a couple of bad design choices: like a horrible UI and a driver with cheap components that makes the light underperform badly.

Does anyone know where I can obtain a decent holster for my MF-01?

I tried mine out in an army surplus Smoke Grenade pouch (search in the Q8 thread) and found that it does fit…kind of. The battery tube fits well in the sleeve but the larger head keeps it from settling all the way down the pouch. there’s wasted space below the light. The velcro top does hold it in place securely though so it does work, just note that it’s not made for this light.

I also just received THIS POUCH from Banggood and it’s too big. The MF-01 fits entirely in the pouch with a good deal of room to spare. It doesn’t really have room to roll around, but it’s not snug or form fitting in any way. The drawstring top seems to secure it though and it will work, especially if you have an extra quad of 18650 cells that you want to carry along.

I’m hopeful that POUCH #3 will work just right. I looked at the size and the head of the MF-01 will fit in there. I just don’t know how snug or secure. I’ve got one on order and will report back.

Just got POUCH #3 from your link in the mail today. Fits the Q8 perfectly, the head of the MF01 is a bit of a tighter squeeze, but still gets through. I think the pouch is a perfect size for both lights.

I’m very knew to the hobby (binge bought a bunch of lights) and have a question……After playing around with the MF01, I decided to go charge the cells, and when I put them in my Nitecore D4 charger, I noticed that 1 cell was at 3.37V, 2 cells were at 3.97V, and one cell was at 4.18V. Does that mean that the 4.18V cell did not have proper contact??

Any input would be appreciated. Thanks!

What cells are you using?

Can you measure volts? Put 2 cells in the carrier that are in series and see if you get 8 or so volts. Take those out and try the other 2 cells. Then do the same test on the other 2 slots in the battery carrier.

It’s possible one of your white safety rings is too high causing bad contact.

Tell us or show us what cells your using first.

Just to follow up, I removed all 4 plastic rings off the + ends and re-soldered the brass button tops. All is good now, discharge is even on the 4 30Qs. My ceiling bounce test also registered a 15% increase in output.

S41 is a countermeasure lot as though operation itself is no problem,XP-G 219B is both released with fever.

S42 I got battery damage :confounded: I got a countermeasure item from BG.
The UI is for sure.

I took some thermal images of this light. I don’t know how to post photos here but I posted on my Thermal gallery on Instagram.

I ran the light for 2 mins to see how hot it gets. Its about 56 Degrees C before it steps down. But the handle is never very hot, only the head of the light gets hot.

They haven’t really pushing this light to the limit yet.

It should handle 65 degrees ok

My convoy L6 get up to 70 degrees without and issues and it does get warm my hand have thick skin
