got my light today. phew finally. what a beautiful light makes my MT03 look plain this make me want another one. :Good quality overall and i do agree the box look nice definitely beat the box provided by Haikelite by some distance hahah….I think this flashlight deserves its full price.
it only has slight brightness variation on the emitters and that is only on low. i am not complaining it is barely there at least on my unit. Notice the top 6 emitters only just. The cons is now is exactly Noon nothing can beat the sun. cant wait for the dark.
Yes Astrolux tend to use copper for the head of their flashlights but a MF-01 with a copper head will be much heavier and this will also increase the price significantly. Not worth the price if they don’t push the high and turbo modes to higher current (with higher gauge wires to the LED banks).
Hmm he did the current testing without the battery carrier actually. The driver spring would definitely yield the largest gain. I wish I could test differences, but I don’t have the equipment.
No, he used the carrier. He just modded it so that all the power went through an additional loop of wire so he could use his Uni-T UT210E amp meter. It’s the same model lots of blf’ers use, including myself. It’s only about $25 to $30. Having one really helps you to understand current flow and how it relates to output. If you like doing mods and stuff, you should consider getting one. It’s also a DMM in case you don’t already have one.
Thanks for sharing Bruno28. One question, how come it doesn’t capture its SS bezel temperature?

You’re welcome.
Metal surfaces that are shiny can’t get the proper thermal reading. Infra red is reflected from other objects around and then the camera captures this.
The same happens with glass and mirrors.
As some have pointed out, the best way to get accurate reading on shinny surfaces is to use a black electrical tape, so the heat from the source will heat the tape and be able to read the temperature correctly.
The red hot areas on the bezel is actually a reflection of myself.
Maybe they could extend the height of the head by adding one more fin. That should add about 6mm which could be added to the shelf thickness. The extra mass would help reduce led temps, at least for a while.
