- The Fake-Cree LED Awareness Thread - The new "low" in Budget lights.

1. Sure I would like to take your idea forward and participate more on BLF. I have completed research with some of the Top research teams with respect to LED tints (CCT, CRI, Warm on Dim, Dual tone etc).

2. Am also quite interested in knowing how my posts ended up sounding ‘Brand affiliated’ so I may mend that. Because I purchase all my review units by hard earned cash. Absolutely no Brand patroning. However I also do not step back from suggesting which brands worked well with me and which did’nt. So that many people may follow my purchases.

3. My Specialty is that I keep updating my reviews 2~5~7 years long. I do have some long term data on (limited) products. Feel free to drop me a query on that.

Have a nice day!

Does anyone knows if Coast uses a real/fake LED? I have a hp7 and looking at the hp17, 970 lumens and hp14, 629 lumens.

The couple Coast lights i have use real Cree LEDs. Coast is a division brand of LED-Lenser, and been known to use real brand name LED emitters.

I was looking through the lens and I couldn’t see any marking or lines on the LED. It’s hard to see without taking anything apart, I’m not going to take anything apart with my luck nothing will go back together right.

Thanks for the reply!

Fake ?

if its a fake then a good one, looks pretty much like a XML2

Is it fake?

Square wire pads

This is fake

Thx!

Oh man that is a very well done fake indeed

Definitely not a genuine Cree. Likely a latticebright XM-L2 knockoff.

sorry i can’t speak english. Thx!

Spotted about 90% of the local toolstore’s cheap end headlights with “CREE T6 LED” to be fakes.
Nice…

I’d like to ask how does a fake Cree T6 LED look like?

I’ve got a couple of generic “XML T6” LED flashlights, but I don’t know how to differentiate since I don’t have a known-real XML T6 to compare it with.

I’ve tried taking picture of the LED, but my entry-level digital camera doesn’t focus too well, this is my best shot yet:

@ d_t_a , very fake and bad performing.

So, is the above fake XML-T6 a LatticeBright or a LB clone?

Have another one to help identify:
This is from an UltraFire UK68, supposedly Cree Q5 LED:
(pardon again, it’s very tiny and my camera is having a hard time focusing on it… )

(The glass/dome seems to look quite dirty from the pic…)

Yes definitely likely a litticebright low quality knock off of a Cree.

Fake XP-E
Possibly LB

Problems with OP photos

I will work on fixing that this weekend. (the photobucket change screwed over all of us)
