Hi …

Some pictures while waiting for the next batch.

Do I assume correctly you have both the CW and NW versions of the DQG?

My CW DQG has a bit of yellow along with a hit of green in it. How does yours compare to the xp-g3 MF01?

Is the MF01 the same or is it more pure white/cooler in color?

Hi JasonWW.

Yes I have both the CW and the NW DQG.

You are correct, the DQG NW is way more “yellow/greenish” than the MF-01 XP-G3.

The MF-01 is way purer white/cooler in the overall color.
(The hotspot i pure white, dimming out in the edges.)

I think you’re the second person in this thread who has mistakenly thought I was talking about a neutral white DQG.

I have the cool white DQG. How do the 2 cool white versions you have compare?

Hi JasonWW…

SRI my bad…

It should read : You are correct, the DQG CW is way more “yellow/greenish” than the MF-01 XP-G3.
Skip this: You are correct, the DQG NW is way more “yellow/greenish” than the MF-01 XP-G3.

Then I think we are on the same page…

But when we are talking about the MF-01:

  • One of the battery carrier are drawing the batteris uneaven.
(acttually, one was at 3.84v, two was at 3.98v while the last was at 4.20v !!)

The other one works fine, drawing the batteries even.

Please check if anyone else has the same problem.

Well my second MF01 showed up today. The three clusters of 219C emitters are evenly lit on low output unlike my first sample. Turbo output is also around 10000 lumens, so I’m very happy. Take it for a spin tonight.

Just did a spring bypass on my MF01 219C , on the single spring on the head of the light . Left the carrier’s springs untouched …

Output still the same , no increase even at the first second .

Thanks, probably not worth it then.

maybe their is improvement, but our eyes are not good enough to notice that
10000 and 11000 lumen looks very similar

Did not compared by the eye , but in a lightbox !

i did the same bypass the main spring and didn’t notice any improvement, i guess the spring is compress in the way that it creates a short path and no bypass is needed or maybe the spring is good enough.

Switching frequency is 20kHz.

Okay, so the xp-g3 MF01 is a more cool white. This sounds pretty good to me. I was afraid the xp-g3 was gonna be yellow and green tinted like my dqg. Now I may consider getting one. Hmmm.

There has been 3 or 4 people report the same battery voltages. Only 3 of your cells are making contact. You need to check that none of the white discs are too high for your batteries.

Also this:

The problem found, had to measure around the board, one of the two brass contacts (+) had come loose.
Had to find out my old solder bolt and put some heat on the brass contact surface and got it fasten for contact again.
The problem was then resolved. made a “dry run” and checked that the batteries were equally discharged and everything was ok.
Thanks for the pointing out JasonWW and L4M4. <span class=“high. to were “discs” white the of None BTW:”>

Glad you found the problem.

I hope this carrier issue gets fixed on the next batch of lights. It could lead to a dangerous situation.

Freemee, I thought I asked to put on the second list (missed out on the GB, too slow), but don’t see my name.

Just one torch, now that I know code will work for Nichia or Cree. It will be Nichia provided same LEDs will be used. I am happy with small price increase for some improvements. Will the tube be knurled and match the MF02, I would prefer that ?

By the way. is the MF02 delayed, last time I looked you didn’t have a date ?

Thanks.

Hi I’m a noob to flashlight world… and I am looking into this MF01 light, and I don’t know if I want XP-G3 or Nichia…
Can someone give me their opinion on each light? All I know XP-G3 gives more lumens output.
And is the 30Q battery the best choice for this light? (I’m also looking for sony VTC6 but they’re hard to find)

The Nichia one will give an even consistently white beam with great color rendering (reds will be deep and saturated) while the XP-G3 will be all over the place with a pale and sickly greenish look to it (at least on some parts of the beam). In my opinion the output difference is not big enough to justify the XP-G3.

Here are Beamshots of both flashlights from Bluzie (TLF)
