Q8, PMS SEND TO THOSE WITH ISSUES BLF soda can light

LOL, 5000 lumen still isnā€™t ā€˜a little lowā€™ in my perception, but calling it that shows how fast the flashlight developments go!

I ordered my first Q8 late on sept 7 when preorder count was already in the 600s. Up to now it was backordered and now it has a ā€œContact customerā€ statusā€¦ except nobody at BG tried to contact me and i get no response to my contact messagesā€¦ I fear iā€™m gonna miss on the second batch and will have to wait even longer. Frog! :frowning:

/\ā€¦ :frowning: ā€¦ā€¦/\

Anyone have a link to the SuperLube thatā€™s best for our flashlights? Thereā€™s a bunch of types at Home Depot and I wanted to get the correct one.

Actually, if you guys could post links to your lube of choice that would be helpful. I donā€™t want to be off topic but I bet tons of new Q8 owners (like me) wonā€™t have a clue what kind of lube to use.

Guess I should lube the rest of my lights, too. My Nitecores are beginning to make a gritty sound when I unscrew them.

Oh dang, I didnā€™t know there were different kinds.
I read about it on BLF, looked for it on AliExpress but got results quite sexually oriented (LOL)
Looked at Amazon fr and ordered the cheapest.

Yeah BLF DNS record went AWOL for a while there!

Is this your new strategy to keep the post count on the thread <1000/day?

Found a product that looks a bit like the no-ox-id :

Burndy P8A Oxide-Inhibiting Joint Compounds PENETROX

Just get the SuperLube Synthetic Grease that comes in a tube. Not the oil or spray. It comes in different size tubes.
Iā€™ll get you a picture from HomeDepot & post it in a bit.
I use SuperLube on all my lights. I tried a few more expensive products but canā€™t tell a dimes worth of difference between them & SuperLube. SuperLube is much more economical for my money and works as well as the ā€œbestā€.

This stuff works well. Itā€™s teflon grease. Itā€™s not as thick as Nyogel so it doesnā€™t artificially add resistance, but Iā€™ve never found that to be an issue. Just clean the threads, slather on some grease, turn it to get everything worked in, then wipe off anything which squeezes out. If it ever gets dirty, repeat.

Below is your Home Depot linkā€¦

SUPER LUBE /HomeDepot

Another handy tip is get a small syringe from the pharmacy, take the plunger out, fill syringe with SuperLube, & reinstall plunger. It makes a handy dispenser. Add a large gauge needle & you can reach hard to acess areas on other projects also.

I have one ordered 8th, still backorderedā€¦

Wow! Great beamshot comparison Miguel_79. The Q8 was stunning.

Your post also makes me want to go back to Spain again, itā€™s been 5 years. My wifeā€™s grandparents are from beautiful Asturias.

If people do not receive shipping email, relax, we slowly see people say their Q8 is shipped or labels printed, just do the good old ā€œorder and forgetā€ there is not a lot of choice if one wants to keep the blood pressure down

Well since China goes on holiday for a week starting Sunday, yeah, folks will probably need to be patient.

Yes, thatā€™s the thread that peaked my interest also. The OP confirmed it with Nye Chemical so he says. You could PM him and ask. I will say that Ford isnā€™t in the business of manufacturing Motorcraft oils, or lubricants, so they have to source it from somewhere. I have some Nyogel sitting right here, and comparing the two, I see, feel and smell no difference between the two. They look identical to me.

I've been using a FORD tube of Nyogel for years now. It's on it's very last squeeze. I now remove the cap and dig in with a tool to pull out what I need. It was offered for sale here on BLF by a member a while back, think he got them off of eBay - little older batch but all good.

You want an electrically conductive lubricant (ā€œelectricalā€ or bulb greaseā€) not an insulating lubricant.

Ask the Google: superlube electrical conducting - Google Search

Probably not that one

Thank you for comparing it to the original labeled Nyogel, will order some.

Lovely beamshots Miguel_79

Iā€™m now re-thinking whether I need (want) the Kronos 70 GB (S70 with higher power driver). Was expecting it to be a quite different animal from the Q8, for throw, but from your shots it seems the Q8 will cover both bases, at least well enough for me, in such a compact package.

PS: were your torches standard, or have you made a few improvements to any ?

More Good Thread Lube Info for inquiring minds.
SuperLube has worked fine for me for years & I will continue using it. For any who might want info on other lubesā€¦ hope this helps.
