KronoReview: Eagle Eye X6R

I changed one to a XP-L HI gave it a real nice beam profile. I don’t have it any more though, I lend it to my father and never got it back.
I have been trying for a long time to give him a flashlight but he always returned them. On this he likes the beam profile, tint, dual switches and build in charger. The charger works very good but I put in a protected NCR18650B just to be safe.

Dont have an account there, i dont want to open to much accounts for such websites.

I’ve got another one of these lights on order, so I figured I should update my X6R-specific driver to latest and greatest.

I present the TripleStack X6R

Dang, you got the latest stuff on there as well. Boy, your TripleStack started a trend. I gotta add support for them in Narsil.

I just got these boards in. Looks like R3 is the 4.7, and R4 and R5 for the FET, so think we got everything covered.

I'd like to triplestack, triple-led an X6R, just dunno when i can get to it all.

PD - have you done anything yet with this driver?

I have one in hand, and it looks really good. I just got my X6R and heatsink delivered, just waiting for emitters, optic, and mcpcb to get here before I start work

Ohh, cool! I got a triple MCPCB and optic, but not sure what LED's to use... Think'n XPL HI's or V6 3D's.

I’m going to dedome some V5 3A’s

PD, Did you order the one that you linked above from FastTech? the ’single mode 350 lm” model?

I’ve got a friend looking for a light with built in charging, and this is high on the list.

I ordered from the official EE AliExpress store

The FT listing is a copy/paste error. Wish they copy/paste'ed the price from that light.

hi all
A little noob question.
I just received my Astrolux S1 and love the modes (especiall the moon and the bright turbo and that you have a shortcut from moon to turbo)
Would it be possible to switch the driver to the BLF ones from Banggood? Or is this not possible because of the charging board? (Or way to hard for a rookie)

It’s doable, and you can see pictures of similar mods earlier in this thread by TomE. But the biggest problem is that the light has to be on to charge, so you would have light coming out the front whenever it’s charging. You also wouldn’t be able to use the side-switch without re-programming your BLF driver.

Hm - the charging part makes this idea useless then - what a pitty.

thx for the reply

Not useless, just something to know up front. You can always set it on moon and stand it head-down on a table or whatever. The light is on, but you can’t see it.

how would i go about finding an orange peel reflector to fit my x6r? keep in mind i’m a noob to this but wouldn’t mind the option to switch them out depending on any “planned use”, such as relatively close in camping one weekend (floodyish orange peel), or walking a field (thrower smooth) the next. or would them being identical in size and depth only get rid of the hotspot I currently have? of which i’m not sure would be a bad thing, love this light though, so if a no go I’d still be happy.

Yeah an OP reflector won’t make it much more floody, mainly a smoother hotspot. It’d be easier to just get an extra lens and apply frosted film (DC Fix) to one of them.

Pull the lens, mist it with water and cut some Wax paper to the size and apply it to the lens.
Paper on inside of lens.
Works great, removable and if you have the wax paper in stock, it’s found money:)

Try it, you will be surprised.
Later,
Keith

now ee gives the new driver for x6r, with the working battery indicator, the charging current according to the manufacturer is 1.4A.
UI is completely different.
Differences :

  • press and hold for changes modes
-turbo mode is available only with double click
-can not be switched off using the electronic switch
-available moonlight mode(one click when flashlight is on)
-now flashlight have battery indicator in the electronic switch
    -three clicks for strobe mode

Jeez, that sounds terrible. Glad I got the current UI.
