New Convoy C8 – Clearly better

J-Dub74, that’s very kind of you. I will drop you a PM. Thanks!

No problem Pete. It’s on it’s way to you. You should have it in a few days.

I could easily see this happening with a tired worker grabbing from the wrong bin and not noticing or one of the smaller rings fell in with their bigger brothers. Nice easy fix thankfully but I did let Simon know about the slip and showed him the pictures you posted.

Now all I have to do is find the bag of spacers I have somewhere at home so I can put my C8 back together. :person_facepalming:

Does there come a time when you officially have too much flashlight stuff?

I know I have a package of those spacers it’s just a matter of figuring out where my wife “filed them” for me. I have a bad habit of putting small parts like this in one of a few drawers in the dining room or living room. Once every few months she gets sick of seeing flashlight stuff everywhere and all gets put into a bag or a box for me to sort later. That “later” is LONG overdue…

I keep LEDs, drivers, etc., in those little glassine bags that FT sends. Small card listing what the critter happens to be (eg, “17mm 1.40A 1-mode 4V”, “16mm XP-L 5D”, etc., whatever happens to be useful), and bundle all of the same kind into 1 baggie. Lately, though, I just have the orange FT sticker that’s on it, and have to look up from the packing list what’s a “17069473” or whatever.

Still gotta spread ’em out and look at the bags to find anything, but…

Excellent! Thanks again!

“Does there come a time when you officially have too much flashlight stuff?”

If it does, I’m gonna have to change my name to Fred Sanford!

@J-Dub74 any news on the New C8 or C9?

Just tried to buy one from the direct link in post number one. Unable to get past the emitting color selection. What might I be doing wrong?

You can’t click “Add to Cart”?

What country are you in? Wondering if it can’t ship to your country…

Thanks Pete, from the first page I click the buy now. The second page appears and asks me to select and emitting color. I try to click on any one of the three emitting colors and I get nothing. The shipping destination is preset for United States. No other buttons work on the emitting color page. I’m trying this from my phone perhaps I should try it from my computer this afternoon.
Thanks again.

Strange. For me, I choose the emitting color first, and then click either Buy Now or Add to Cart.

Maybe a silly question, but do you have an account on AliExpress and are you logged in?

Definitely try it from your computer.

Just tried to buy something else on AliExpress and found the same behavior. I’m guessing my ad blocking software is the culprit on my phone.
Thanks.

Update. Worked great on my computer. Must be my ad blocking on my phone.

Looks like a good flashlight at a great price. Hope my wife doesn’t get mad cause I bought another light!

Hum, can you install the AliExpress App on you cellphone? If so, have a try!
It is a good app, allows you to make payments, choose colours and other available options, and perhaps it works better than the site in some situations!
I use it in a daily basis and so far I hadn’t many issues with it! :+1:

I second this. I’ve only ever used the app for my business, and I have absolutely no complaints. Helps that unlike the Banggood and Gearbest apps, the screen flips on a sideways phone so the keys aren’t microscopical!

Got the proper gasket from J-Dub74 - thank you!

I did a quick measurement - got 73.4 kcd. Mine is the 3A tint. I’m guessing people that reported the 80 kcd measurement probably got it on the 1A tint? Using a fully charged Samsung 30Q cell. Clamp meter shows 2.75A at the tail cap.

Can’t wait to take it for a walk this evening.

How?
I only measured 54,5 kcd in a stock XP-L HI V2 1A Convoy C8. The only difference is that mine doesn’t have the AR coated lens.
I needed to add 2 7135s to achieve 73 kcd. :open_mouth:

Whats the estimated candela on the grey Cree XML2 U2 1A 1067.3LM 7135 x 8 Driver version ?

I measured a black with same led and driver:
918 lumens
32500 Cd
You can see a lot of other measurements in my signature in the Big flashlight measurement collection. This one is in line7.

You really made that tail clicky button stand proud!

I tend to shy away from a proud clicky as they can get activated accidentally pretty easily, but I have cut one down to the bare minimums while keeping the button surrounded for a friend that wanted easier glove access.

I shy away from the proud ones because my wife carried a Solarforce light with a proud button that came on in her locker at work when she placed her bag in, found it on and wickedly hot when she took a break. Time and a place for everything, I know….

That’s when you want to keep the tail cap locked out, when it’s not in your hand being used.

Rolling around in a bag is the worst possible situation. Always lock out in the bag.
