I’d like to sign up for a second one (on list at 334). Should have gotten two Q8’s
That’s a good guideline for life in general. When you find The Good Stuff, get more than one. It may be a long time before anything similarly good comes around again.
Including women?
Yes, including women. But women are like snowflakes. Or Chinese LED strips. It’s impossible to get two which are the same.

Instead of making jokes about people being commodity items which can be bought, sold, stocked up, or even experimented on, could we maybe… not? I would hope the problems with that are obvious. It might be funny in a distant future after this sort of issue is a faint memory, but in today’s regressive times it’s bad taste and adds to the problem.
One has to consider that the double tube, tailpcb and driver PCB are not something off the shelf.
So despite not having glue it is not clear how good of a modding platform the FW3A will become
We might dream of a shorter tube and sure the PCB designs will be made available. ATM it is about getting this whole light done.
And sigh when I read that Raccoon City named his latest pic fun topic to be gender neutral it is indeed clear also here one needs to tread carefully when it cones to these things no matter how one thinks about it.
Making a non mainstream opinion something like I see religion ought to be. “It is like having a huge d#ck , it is fine to have it, one just doesn’t show it in public and to children”

That depends. Are women property?
Was property mentioned? (It was a joke, hence the emoji)
A challenge with shorter tube is that the current Fritz clip design fits so nice, a short version could ruin that.
And it is pretty small with the eswitch in the tail it might not be very practical to have the FW3A too short right?

It’s best not to discuss controversial topics/opinions in fora not intended for that topic,
so I shall keep my opinions about sociopolitical matters to myself, and I would advise others to do the same.
Else we shall descend into disarray and conflict.
Back onto topic; will the firmware be modified for faster thermal step-down? On the highest level output, a triple in this light will get burning hot in seconds.
The stock step-down time for narsil is 45s. In this light, with that little thermal mass and that much heat, 45s is a long time.

What about just turning the power down when it feels hot? There’s no need to rely on fancy electronics.

What about just turning the power down when it feels hot? There’s no need to rely on fancy electronics.
Personally, I can judge how hot a light is getting in my hand and turn it down if I’m not happy, so that’s not why all my lights have thermal throttling.
I make sure that they have it because I have left small lights tailstanding on high to light a room etc for a few minutes and have gone to turn them off and nearly burned my hand.
Also I left a 2S DD XHP70 light in my pocket (while outside in the dark) without locking-it-out, and a short while later my friend points out that I have light seeping through the fabric of my jacket. I reach in to turn it off – it was on high (~5000lm), was scorching hot (I thought the VTC5s were gonna blow), and there is now a scorched/burnt/melted circle of fabric in that pocket.
In short; thermal throttling protection in lights is not a standard function like moon or strobe, nor does it replace the agency or responsibility of the user – it is a last-resort safety measure to prevent fires and other accidents.
The Miller could you please add me to the list for one?
I’d like to thank all of the people responsible for the FW3A and the other BLF specials. While there seems to be a steady stream of fantastic production lights to fill almost every niche, I think these enthusiast-designed lights are infinitely more interesting.
Miller, you evil French genius, put me down for one of FW3A please :-).
I’ve had a dqg 18650 tiny 3 and 4th, and now prefer the Blf A6 because it’s brighter, more reliable and easier to use. I eventually conceded the trade off of size (length) involved for the DQG is not worth it.
It’s fun seeing what projects you and the team (thanks guys and gals!) come up with. And genuinely interesting seeing my own thoughts (pfft! What a silly idea… Hmmm… Interesting… I want one!) proved wrong by the collective wisdom here.
I’m already in for Q8s, The GT, and now consider myself officially subscribed to BLF special projects! Q16 idea sounds fun.
Please put me down on the list for one. Tried to resist but couldn’t.
A silent dutchman! I never saw you before on BLF but joined in 2011.
I guess that I have compensated for you
Indeed, sharp of you to notice.

I have a very pretty blue Convoy S2+ with Hoops beautiful copper pill in it, XP-L emitters and a Carclo triple optic… 3029 lumens. Very surprising if you’re not used to such a thing, this FW3A should do similarly.

Yes. Thermal regulation will be calibrated to perform well on the prototypes, whenever prototypes happen.

Kinda want to build a copper body for it… LOL
