FW3A, a TLF/BLF EDC flashlight - SST-20 available, coupon codes public

Please note that not everyone uses clips.

Don’t knock women mate. Even in fun.

If not for them. You and I wouldn’t be here.

THEY control the world.
(Behind EVERY good man. There is a woman”.
Remember that.

Oldie. And a goodie.

From an oldie. (then some.)

Sorry For Lionheart.

It’s best not to discuss controversial topics/opinions in fora not intended for that topic,
so I shall keep my opinions about sociopolitical matters to myself, and I would advise others to do the same.
Else we shall descend into disarray and conflict.

Back onto topic; will the firmware be modified for faster thermal step-down? On the highest level output, a triple in this light will get burning hot in seconds.
The stock step-down time for narsil is 45s. In this light, with that little thermal mass and that much heat, 45s is a long time.

Also, Miller, put me down for one as well please.

and just when I thought I had the only EDC light I’ll ever need…

the quest for that one perfect light that is just right for everything continues

Yes. Thermal regulation will be calibrated to perform well on the prototypes, whenever prototypes happen.

What about just turning the power down when it feels hot? There’s no need to rely on fancy electronics.

Personally, I can judge how hot a light is getting in my hand and turn it down if I’m not happy, so that’s not why all my lights have thermal throttling.

I make sure that they have it because I have left small lights tailstanding on high to light a room etc for a few minutes and have gone to turn them off and nearly burned my hand.

Also I left a 2S DD XHP70 light in my pocket (while outside in the dark) without locking-it-out, and a short while later my friend points out that I have light seeping through the fabric of my jacket. I reach in to turn it off - it was on high (~5000lm), was scorching hot (I thought the VTC5s were gonna blow), and there is now a scorched/burnt/melted circle of fabric in that pocket.

In short; thermal throttling protection in lights is not a standard function like moon or strobe, nor does it replace the agency or responsibility of the user - it is a last-resort safety measure to prevent fires and other accidents.

The Miller could you please add me to the list for one?

I’d like to thank all of the people responsible for the FW3A and the other BLF specials. While there seems to be a steady stream of fantastic production lights to fill almost every niche, I think these enthusiast-designed lights are infinitely more interesting.

I’d like to on the list for 2x of these as well. Thank you so much! This is fun!

List updated

Miller, you evil French genius, put me down for one of FW3A please :-).

I’ve had a dqg 18650 tiny 3 and 4th, and now prefer the Blf A6 because it’s brighter, more reliable and easier to use. I eventually conceded the trade off of size (length) involved for the DQG is not worth it.

It’s fun seeing what projects you and the team (thanks guys and gals!) come up with. And genuinely interesting seeing my own thoughts (pfft! What a silly idea… Hmmm… Interesting… I want one!) proved wrong by the collective wisdom here.

I’m already in for Q8s, The GT, and now consider myself officially subscribed to BLF special projects! Q16 idea sounds fun.

Interested. Please include me in the list

Please put me down on the list for one. Tried to resist but couldn’t.

ha, will update the list later.

I would also like to have one

Very much down for this. Thanks, TK.

I like the way you think as far as good flashlights go Zulumoose!! :+1:
No comment on the rest of it…….

A silent dutchman! I never saw you before on BLF but joined in 2011.
I guess that I have compensated for you :person_facepalming:

Will update list later!

Indeed, sharp of you to notice.
Kijkend naar mijn hoeveelheid posts, ben ik nog veel schuldiger aan mensen de oren van het hoofd kakelen  (jouw inbreng is voornamelijk hoogstaand en technisch  )

How many lumens does this light put out ?
