Emisar D1

If it’s the size of the Convoy M1/M2 I imagine the Convoy holster will fit (it fits S2+ sized lights with still some room to spare)

So you can have an idea of what the D1 looks like in the Convoy S2+ holster, here are some pics. I happen to have both, but I don’t normally use them in this combination. You can see that it fits and will close, but because of the big head it feels like the velcro wants to separate. The stiff fabric would probably bend more easily over time with use. Perhaps it could work for someone.

Maybe I missed it, what light is this one? And has there been any reviews? Thanks!

Its the D1s Alex, not released for us to buy yet.

My M8 has a fet driver running sir404dp fet , for 53kcd . I think i measured th reflector at 29mm back when i modded it .

D1 and D4 has my back! in my works ruck sack

that D1 beam is crazy! That D1S beam is even crazier!

Thanks  That is sure of a hotspot! I suppose their illumination range is quite similar, then!

Is there a memory mode that ignores turbo?

There is a memory mode that doesn’t ignore turbo. So 2-click to get out of turbo before turning off.

Received mine today (finally, the Swedish post is not what it used to be…).

Quality and function is impeccable, but I really don’t like it being low CRI.
I hope there will be a high CRI version available in the future.

This holster fits the D1 (and the D4) well:

The diameter of the head between those 2 lights seem different enough for this holster to fit both well…which one fits less well??

I got an sst 40 coming from mtn i’m gonna try in my d1. How is the tint on the sst 40 in the d1?

The holster is built with elastic bands in the sides, so it can accomodate different sizes. Look at the pictures on BG.

Honestly, that doesn’t look any better than the Convoy holster I posted pictures of. The pictures on BG just show a narrow head type of flashlight fitting well into the holster (looks like a S41). Sure the D4 will fit, but I imagine the fat head of the D1 will be bulging out at the top. Pictures of actual use would be helpful.

Thanks a bunch! That actually does look like it fits better. My skepticism has been neutralized.

I’m used to neutral tints. The tint in the 6500K SST40 from Mountain is quite cold in comparison.

Hopefully Mountain will get some 5000K SST 40 soon. 6500K is a bit too cold for me.

I tried dedoming a few of these SST40s this weekend:

  • First attempt: Soaked the star in Coleman Fuel for 3 hours, then pushed off the dome with a toothpick. This is the method I used to successfully dedome many XPG2, XML and XPL emitters. OUTCOME: Failure. When the dome came off it took out the emitter wires. The bond wires weren’t just snapped off at both ends. They were simply gone.
  • Second attempt: Same as above, but soaked for 6 hours. OUTCOME: Failure. Same result as first attempt. Both bond wires snapped. They were still there, but the ends connecting to the casing had broken and both wires were dangling from the LED.
  • Third attempt: used the hot knife method to slice off the top of the dome about a half mm above the emitter. Heated the star with emitter just as if doing a reflow (but not till solder melted). Then heated a brand new unused #10 exacto knife blade and sliced off the top of the dome. OUTCOME: Success. Smoothest slice dedome I’ve ever done and I didn’t break the bondwires. It still works. Hotspot is noticeably smaller with similar throw to the stock XPL HI (maybe a tiny bit less). Unfortunately, the tint shift was extremely minimal. Went from maybe 6500 down to 6000K at best. Still too cool for me.
  • Fourth attempt: Coleman fuel soak overnight. I’m not expecting any better results than the first and second attempt though. The bondwires seem much more fragile than those on CREE emitters. Looks like if I want to dedome these and get a shift closer to neutral I may need to get some Toluene. OUTCOME: will find out tomorrow.
