GB Oficially closed/// Maxtoch 2X Shooter (new version)

When I used the Convoy C8 tube and a single cell the 2X would come on and go right back off with fresh cell.

The NEW M24 has the same driver so I would expect the same results. However if T18 used the new M24 then he did say he got his to work up there^

The older M24 with only 3.2 to 3.4 amp driver (instead of the 4.5 amps as the new ones have) worked fine on one cell though and is what the single tubes were made for to the best of my knowledge.

Hi Robo, actually in that beam shot pic that was the 2X with 2 - 18350’s running it, I really couldn’t believe it worked.
Those tubes was from the last Maxtoch special edition GB, matter of fact wasn’t that your GB also?,
I didn’t get in the GB, but Amanda told me she had a couple of that same light with BLF upgrades but they just didn’t have the special BLF branded tube with, BLF SE, or whatever it was, anyhow that was when I saw those tubes and got them to use with that light, as it turned out the single cell tube made the light seem awkward or nose heavy and just not easy to hold on to so put the tubes in the tube box and forgot I had them.
But two 18350’s will light up the 2X I really didn’t think it would and got nervous about sag so quit messing around before I vented some cells,

Edit: Wow, Robo, I have never went to one of your links in your signature bar but went to the M24 Sniper vid and you sure do have a lot of videos, and that is the light those tubes are for on the tube I have it has the word “Strobe” on the end by the head and your supposed to twist the head to go to strobe, has an arrow showing to go left, never tried it so maybe it’s for one of the even earlier M24’s, I am not even sure now actually.

Yes I did do the GB on the M24 BLF-TE also

Yea those cells are a little bit less than I would like to try and run with the 4.5 amp buck driver needing a little over 8 volts and 4.5 amps.
As I stated though with the original driver the M24 ran fine with the single tube.

The GB M24 had from 4.1 to 4.3 average on the drivers , so it was not enough less there to be a lot of difference , opposed to the new drivers really.

If you throw a dedomed XM-L2 U4 1A in that GB light it will perform even better than it does in stock form (just an FYI)

Yep, I missed that GB of yours but already knew Amanda and only got word about the GB after the fact, so asked her about it and she told me she had 6-7 that were BLF spec’d but she didn’t have anymore of the BLF-TE tubes, so I figured good enough, by the way did you know Amanada shut down the Alibaba site for Maxtoch? big bummer and I was dragging my feet again…
I was probably right in being sort of nervous running that 2X with those rather old Efest 18350’s, would have been interesting to see the sag on those batteries, or not,
Not sure really but I know I stopped screwing around and pulled them out to see if they got hot or anything, just didn’t seem normal at all and as I mentioned I didn’t really think for a second that those two cells would actually light up the 2X least of all go through all the modes like 6 times and put out some serious lumens, what I wished I’d have done was to take a volt reading before and after, hum might do that again since I know I didn’t get blowed up, like those E Cig guys, ha ha Sub Ohm’s I’m a bit to familiar with that and know better, I’ve vented every size cell at least once, except the 18350, but it still a new year so well see what happens, like to see how long that light will run on 18350’s from 2014 and maybe 50 charges on them… Not long my guess

Hi,
I just learned that Maxtoch released an XHP-70 floody version of the Shooter 2X with 3000 lumens… of course it has an OP reflector and floody beam. I don´t really see the point of such a thrower shaped light with the L6 and other single XHP-70 lights with > 3500 lumens for half the price. It´s more compact thouih… but there is the Imalent DN70 in a much compacter size…

K.

This fella just came out with some good codes for the Mission 12 and the 2X flood etc, might ask him for them or search I’m not supposed to just dumb them, but their good prices compared to what Maxtoch is asking on their homesite been eyeballing these for awhile, currently being stocked I guess at BG.

Edit: Hi Robo…

Well Maxtoch friends,
I’d really like to know if perhaps anybody here might have gotten their hands on this new M12 side switch light?
I sure hope no one answers… but I am really reluctant to post a main stream question like this in public posts or well I guess I just did frankly, but really just trying to ask people who should know what it means so see a still stock Robo GB M24 Sniper stomp the mud out of this piece of junk 2017 M12.

That would then only leave me then to be the stupid one, and that I am used to.

But surely would really like to know if I am the only one who’s got one of these new lights in XPLHI in particular, but LED makes no difference if it has those 2 switches,

Just wanting to cover as many bases as possible before really saying something, and probably straight to Amanda, like what are they thinking at Maxtoch,

Has the bar really been lowered this much, and or am I just now finding out that the Co. I never thought I’d ever have a bad word for has really gone down the tubes, that is quit possible of course, just got out of the hospital so who knows, and NO not the mental hospital, that’s next I think. :stuck_out_tongue:

Thanks, G.

Hello, this sniper 24, is it new version? Conducts 4.5 amp in the tail? The 2x is no longer marketed and I could not buy, even if sniper 24 looks nice, greetings

Yes That is the newest version of the M24.

You will not get 4.5 amps at the tail though , as this is a Buck driver used in the M24 and the 2X. It is a regulated driver and gives you a constant current at the emitter , from a full charge on the cells until they are depleted , unlike many of the drivers we are used to seeing that the output drops as the cells run down.
In other words you will have the full brightness from the time you turn the light on until the LVP turns it off around 75 to 80 minutes later , if started in high mode and left there , with NO step downs at all.

The 2X production was halted for a short time but it should be back soon. There is the Dedomed XM-L2 U4 1A version and the XHP70 version that should be available when they are back on the site. The XHP70 version is a much more floody beam and not as far reaching.

Both the M24 and the 2X are great lights though and the main difference will be that the 2X has more throw with a tighter beam due to the larger reflector.

My dream would be a Maxtoch Shotter 2x with a tube of a 18650 battery  :crown: . Does anyone know if there is any compatible sea eg C8 convoy, ultrafire?

Thanks in advance!

By the way my friend, this is a 2X Shooter, not a Shotter 2X, just a thought and it’s spelled on the side of the tube…?

I don’t know anyone else who has these, they are rare as far as I know, and the only way they work with a 2X is by running two high drain 18350 cells, there is though the new 1300mAH Aspire 18350 cells but still it won’t give you much run time. I believe these were originally for the 2S with the twisty head strobe feature about 5 years ago or so.
Speaking of dreams, My dream is to sell one of these tubes to someone who would truly prove how much they appreciate owning one of them by paying me $140 OBO for this 100% genuine Maxtoch 18650 tube, that won’t work with just a 18650 cell and a 2X … BUT it does look very cool don’t you think…? By the way the price does include cost for shipping within the U.S…
Good deal for sure, very very rare item.

When I got my Shooter 2X and got the idea to try it with an XHP-35 I did a quick and dirty tube extension. It was more or less just to see how it worked out . Today I spent 4 hours re-doing the whole thing.

4 cell 18650, single tube, works out pretty well! 14 3/4” overall length.

HA HA HA, How’d I know this was coming one day, that is really awesome Dale, great job, are you still using the stock driver…? I don’t think that’s possible, is it…?
Sure could put some knowledge bumps on someones dome with that light, Good job, I’ve got to get one of those machines, better try and get some money first…

Very nice Dale. How did you bore the tube?

I knew I couldn’t bore it that long, so I ordered 6061 cold drawn tubing with thick walls and the right inside diameter. I knurled it on a longer pipe, cut the threads on the ends then cut it off for length. Simply copied the head pattern and tail pattern and screwed the two pieces on the ends of the tube. I didn’t want to trust to o-rings, so I didn’t cut o-ring grooves at all, glued the threads with JB Weld to make it a solid one piece tube. It’s got the double o-rings of the original, just a knurled center section for hand use instead of rifle mount. The knurled section will still mount, I’m sure. Better be a long gun though… lol

I have Neven’s LD-2 in it, modified for 4 cells and the correct amperage to run the 35.

A forum member wanted to buy it from me for his night security job, I knew the way I’d tossed it together for testing wouldn’t hold up to daily use and had meant to do this before but then the surgery and all… so I got up this morning and had at it. Worked out pretty nicely if I do say so myself!

:+1:

Did you ever test cd on this? Thanks.

Yes I did……on one of the factory DD 2X I had 365 and the other one I had 342 I think it was. The average across the board for the ones that took measurements and chimed in , was around 345 and the highest one measured was either 375 or 378.

As I recall the Lux was in the 327Kcd range, lost a bit of throw but the hot spot was larger and I had more lumens.

Thanks.
