You were right
But that part went not so bad I rlthink
Yes, you guys have done a great job keeping everything “between the ditches” here. But, now that you’ve got experience with BLF group buys, I’ll be expecting it to go even smoother next time!

The Cycle of Goodness: “No one prospers without rendering benefit to others”
- The YKK Philosophy
I did a turbo temperature test. After 4-5 minutes I got an external temp reading of about 69 degrees C. I did the test to confirm that I had not accidentally disabled the turbo timer while changing the settings to my liking. So is this the typical temp I should have expected? I really can’t tell you if it stepped down visually because I did it with the light facing a white wall and after so many lumens is hard to tell if anything is really changing, I also do not know how quickly the timer drops output.
So what was the temperature you set it for? Your supposed to set the temperature you want it to stepdown at.
I set it for the time based step down, 3 minutes was what I intended to set it as. If I were to do it based upon temp what is a good temp to do so? Also how many lumens does the light step down to.
Well, 3 mins is the default. If yours is stock, 3 mins works pretty well. For temperature setting, all depends what you want it at. An externally measured temp of about 50-60C works well, but even 50C is feel'n quite warm, all depends.
Although tracking from China is a muddy, muddled mystery to me, I did figure out my Q8 is in New York City! Now it just has to travel to Florida with the snowbirds!
Has anyone noticed or mentioned the behavior where if the light is switched off when ramped below 50% the switch only flashes once and quick method of disabling switch leds doesn’t work? Sorry if I missed it if mentioned already.

Yeah… it is almost funny. My last two finally got out of customs the other day in California & have been on two completely different routes to final destination (me in AL). One has hit every small town possible it seems since it left Arizona…. Comical to watch for sure……

Sometimes I look at those small towns that Fedex drives through on google maps, and imagine what life is like for the people there. Especially if it has a unique name, or if I vaguely remember hearing the name somewhere.
First 500 of new Q8 ready.
Production in full swing again.
Confirmed shipping via Banggood warehouse to cope with the coming holiday.
I got my shipping notice on the 29th for both my lights. Anybody on the East Coast US with a shipping timeline report? Has “2 weeks” been the average like most BG stuff? All my new batteries are here and are lonely.
nc here…..shipped sept 29th….fedex label was created same day…..hasnt moved since……ughh……
Bought some cheap chargers, but I have some better chargers for my self. The pouches are somewhat big but works. Sadly I didnt got my 16 Samsung 30Q batteris shipped from Banggood. So had to use some Sanyo 18650GA on some lights but they worked even if they are not button-top.
Are they raised flat tops? If not, you need to check that all 4 are getting contact.
If they are the red ones, then it should be raised flat tops which is perfectly acceptable.

I had to look twice before I realised that it is no joke, LOL. The ‘we’ve got it’ and the ‘it’s coming today’ are are at least real things happening, but the ‘it’s on its way’ is the ‘we’re not going to tell you what is happening to your package right now’.

Yeah… I know what you mean. Probably, in many cases; life is a lot more ‘simple’ compared to most in a bustling metro area. (which simple works for me… )
I do the same thing with the “Locations” listed below peoples avatars here on BLF.
For instance….. Yours says, “Eastern Woodlands in the Wilderness of North America”.
I picture that in my mind as somewhere between East Tennessee & Pennsylvania, possibly even on up to Maine or into Canada; out pretty much away from it all surrounded by nature & a lot of mostly untouched land & woods.
Right or wrong, I’ll most likely never know. But it is fun to imagine.

The blink or blinks when stopping ramp indicate what is used , once for the 7135 chip and twice for fet. You are below fet levels so it blinks once and that makes the temporary disabling of indicator LEDs harder for there is less time to switch off, half the time compared to two blinks using fet.
AFFLINKRESULTSANDWHATHAPPENED (or is happening) WITH IT.
Despite we were not aiming at making money Banggood was so kind to still allow us to do so.
It seemed fair to distribute these funds roughly like this:
40% team (7 people)
40% special involved BLFers (14 people)
20% GAW for those on the list before the PMs were send.
Over 1300 people have used the aff link and I have received money on my PayPal.
After fees and taxes this is what it boils down to:
7 x ~$55 for each member of the team $385 (free to use how they want as of now $82.50 allocated for Mrs Lumens)
14 x ~$27,50 for special involved BLFers $385 (payments started to those who reacted, as of now $27.50 allocated for Mrs Lumens)
14 x ~$14 for a GAW to members on the list before PMs send $196 (SB is yet to draw, so winners will e published later and given the choice as the rest has, they can use it for what they want )
$966 total to be distributed.
Awaiting further response to PMs and emails now.
If more choose to give it to Mrs Lumens it will be posted without the name, I want all to eel free to use it for what they want.
I received my BLF Q8 on Wednesday
After following the checking plan indicated by Lazy-R-us, these are the details found
External inspection
Led out of center
End of hole of tripod screw thread without anodizing
Battery tube
Lots of dirt inside, was cleaned
Head of PCB retaining screws with slight marks, insignificant
Normal tightening
Down the PCB, dirt but no glue
Threads were chased and top of the holes chamfered
Review of springs: one let go when I touched it, chilly welding
Screws and springs will be changed
Head
Batteries contact ring slightly out of center
Head of driver retaining screws with slight marks, insignificant
Normal tightening
Holes were resized with 1/8” drill bit and contact ring cleaned
Head of MCPCB retaining screw, A picture is worth a thousand words
The screw will be changed and reflector better centered
The flashlight was reassembled, with the spring that let go, to do a primary test with 4 NCR18650GA
Button indicator: led, by the eye, shine the same; from Wednesday night until now there were no problems
Basic tests: no problem
Conclusion: No claims
Final lines
I wait for the new springs that a friend promised me to do a better test
I need a magnifying glass to see the cheat sheet, I will try to enlarge it as proposed by Lazy-R-us

David there will always be bumps on the road to a BLF special light.
And the driver get more complex (GT), there are other manufacturers.
And if it’s too smooth it’s boring
Mine are in ILLinois.. any day now!

I hope it blinks out v1.0 because that's what they have. Firmware did not change from the first batch. It's 1 blink, long pause.
