Q8, PMS SEND TO THOSE WITH ISSUES BLF soda can light

Let me suggest one trick for clicking the right number of times fast enough:

Put both thumbs on the button, or rather one thumb on the button and the other thumb on the first thumb.

When you brain tells your thumbs to push together, you get a faster and more reliable click.

Tried and tested.

There’s a way out of that “turbo only” mode because that’s one of the optional settings.
I’ve already forgotten what they call it.

It is real easy to get click happy or a little bit twitchy and stumble off the edge of the known world.

In fact, my problem is not the click but the way is working the UI,just cannot get It, right now is 2 modes, one low and one turbo no strobe at all

_” PMs send to those with issues, please check.
If I have not missed anybody all with issues should have gotten a PM, if not, let me know. I am collecting the information so we can make haste with the solution(s)….“_

Not sure if to count myself as having issues yet, but would like to be on the issues list just in case, this is what I reported…

“have to report that both my switch leds have randomly decreased in intensity to about half as bright as when I first received it, and sometimes they go back to the original full brightness for a few seconds then return to this lower level, I like the lower brightness level that it has now, looks more acceptable for a switch now, but I’m wondering if they will fail later on…”

Thanks!

Still waiting for mine , shipped 9/29 by priority air mail……no tracking info ….

ah!!! finally received mine!

shipped 29 september so 11 days to NZ. might just be the quickest shipping period i’ve had from banggood.

Yesterday i received mine from 1st batch:

- Two screws are a bit worn out but they can be turned.

- Switch leds illuminate different but after 12 hours they work without problems (great!).

Definitely the best price/quality flashlight I have ever had.

Good reports nice

AlexGT, gonna send PM and add ypu to OP later

All you need to do is get into config, the first setting ia ramping yes no, have you read the manual in post 2?

English is not my native speaker, so, I’m not quite understand all the instruction in post#2.
Could you please advise how to switch between Ramp mode and Mode setting ?. Thank you.

Mine arrived from the second batch today, now to find some test batteries as my 30q button tops haven’t turned up yet.

Does mine qualify for a problem unit or just bad luck?

My OCD keeps making me look at the damage

Hmm, most of my lights that have seen use do have little dings like that.
I see lots more little white/grey spots on your tube and the fins. the two deeper ones right round marked, they seem deeper, the other three look like not much worse then lots of other places on the tube. but you did not marked the other ones so I could be wrong.
Have you tried a sharpie to make it black again?
EDIT: I understand your situation, is this damage getting worse very easy or is it not like your anodisation is very bad. I had a Kronos X6 and just clipping it on my jeanspocket made the anodisation wear and chip off like it was not even there, the X5 had anodisation that was not bad and stayed on. This bugged me, for a normal clip on jeans should not remove anodisation.
If your anodisation acts like it wants to get off that tube  you would be considered somebody with issues.

lucky for you guys that already received your light, mine was still on china and its not changed for a week

I find the more time you spend on BLF the more money goes through paypal and the more packages you have to try and hide before the wife see’s yet another shipment arrive, so I try to limit my exposure  :money_mouth_face:

Looks like I only joined 2014, I must have been lurking long before then as my CPF account was from 2007 which I think was when I got my first Innova and it all started to go downhill and life got brighter.

In a fit of excitement for Q8 I finally checked my tracking, looks like everything sat in Shenzen over the holidays and is now on the move again.

Might finally get around to solder blobbing the Sony VT6C I bought few months back, although I have some button top 30Q as well now, I guess the solution is to order another Q8 to make use of both sets of cells

I have been ignoring checking mine as I assumed it would sit over the holiday, just finally looked and its the same as yours, “shipped” then sat in a warehouse till yesterday but on the move now.

A normal sharpie will have that purple look to it. An oil based black sharpie will look a lot better but never perfectly match. I use one on mine every so often to hide damage from falls. Lasts a while.

next month for me then :disappointed:

Same here. I ordered 3 lights received tracking info on 9/30/17 and lights have not left China.

I don't understand - were you playing around with configuration settings? Why? What were you trying to do?

It sounds to me like you programmed it to use two modes and disable strobe - that's possible to do.

If you are now in MODES (Mode set Operation), this is how you do a factory reset, I just did it myself couple times to verify it:

  • from OFF, do these quickly back to back: click, then click&hold - keep holding until the main LED starts to blink
  • now you are in battery voltage display, so for example, if it blinks 4X, pauses, then once, the batteries are 4.1V
  • with it still blink voltage, do a double click - now it's in temperature display, for example, if it blink 2X, pauses, then blinks 8X, the temperature is 28C
  • with it still blinking the temperature, do a double click again - now it's displaying the firmware version #, should be one blink and long pause
  • with it still blinking the version #, do a press&hold, keep holding til it blinks. There should be 4 quick blinks to indicate the factory reset has been done

That's it, it should be reset to factory defaults: ramping, moon level set to 3, 3 minute turbo timeout, strobes enabled, etc.

If you want to reset

should work

Switch from MODES to RAMPING
(while holding the lamp goes into strobes, thats normal)
hold for 3.2sec, after two short blinks and one blink, click twice.
The lamp continues to blink out configuration for RAMPING.

Switch from RAMPING to MODES
(you hold for a long time, if you ramp down it’s easier on the eyes)
hold for 8sec, after two short blinks and one blink, click once.
The lamp continues to blink out configuration for MODES.

Basically it’s holding the button till it blinks 2x and 1x and than a double click shuts RAMPING on. A single click shuts it off.

Now you can wait till the lamp is gone through the rest of the config menu. The lamp will blink four times short when finished.
Or
you do a click and hold till the lamp blinks four times.
