Q8, PMS SEND TO THOSE WITH ISSUES BLF soda can light

Ah, I live about 10 minutes from that location, which was why I had hoped it would be in the USPS’s hands that day but it took 12 hours from “Departed from smartpost” to the arrival at the USPS.

mine arrived today, looking good. Didn’t do the full check yet (I’m not at home) but the tail cap and driver screws look good, no chipping of the anodizing at first glance, LEDs look nicely centered and indicator LEDs have equal brightness. Ramping is cool!! Ordered a 2nd one straight away, so I have another one to mess around with. Thanks Q8-team :+1:
Now where is lexels thread… I’m hearing good things about TK’s Anduril,

Tracked mine 10/9 and said it would be here 10/12! Opened the mailbox today and there it was, yeah!!
Still waiting for the batteries, but the light looks perfect out of the box. Threads are lubed, leds are centered nicely.

Didnt think about this until I read TomEs question to Kawiboy;
My Q8 has new springs, the light stays on when I bump it (pretty hard) against my hand. Looks like TF is stepping up their game, well on my specimen at least  . Unfortunately KawiBoy wasn’t that lucky with his 2nd batch light :frowning:

I was shocked to received my first q8 today since it was in la according to tracking information. It is a second batch model and it is perfect. There isn’t a single ding or bare spot in the anodization on the entire flashlight. The indicator leds are equally illuminated even though I will disable them. The main leds are perfectly centered and I can’t see a single speck of dust on any of the reflectors. The screws are obviously the new ones and they haven’t got a single mark on them. It is the cleanest and best finish of any light I have purchased, cleaner than the D4’s I have purchased. The tint is truly excellent, i still don’t know why I have purchased so many lights in the past with cool white tint, this neutral tint is way better to look at. I’m not going to modify anything on this one. I have another light on the way in China, i may modify it but this one is pristine and I am not risking messing it up with my ham handed soldering technique. Thanks Blf team and thorfire, I hope the rest of these lights are as good as this one. There will be a lot of happy customers.

Thank you very much.

It’s bizarre. Mine just delayed another day too. They’ve spent nearly 4 days traveling around Kansas. Supposedly smartpost uses some algorithm to use available trucks in the absolute cheapest way possible. Probably does a good job of getting people to pay for faster options next time too.

I got one of mine today. Despite serious oddities from USPS (they really need a helping hand). How can they be a billion dollar operation that can’t get tracking right? FedEx was good.

Brief look at the Q8.

No sharp places. No burrs, sharp edges.

Resistance of screwing on an off of the parts seems reasonable. A bit of drag, but not remarkable. Might be useful to put some appropriate grease on the interfaces. But it does not seem useful.

No visible defects on the outside or inside.

Screws seem fine. I did not go further than unscrewing parts accessible to someone with hands.

I put Stabilant on all the surfaces that will conduct current. It is sort of a lubricant, but the major property is enhanced conductance and corrosion prevention in mating surfaces.

I put a in a set of Samsung ICR 18650-26F 2600 MaH for testing. Charge state unknown, but should be reasonable. Trying to get info on how much current is available internally for the fan in a BT-C3100 charger so I can recharge and evaluate cells. I have a serious fan to cool the whole unit, but I need to avoid killing the internal control device.

I like your idea

Using that comma instead of a period always throws me off…I looked at that and thought it was $261,500! Was about ready to ask Banggood if I could join their affiliate program.

Fedex let mine sit in my city for 5 days before handing it to the post office. I wish they just let the USPS have it right after customs. I would have had it last week.

You have my attention with this dragons breath. What is this you speak of lol

Manker style. Think they are the first I heard of it used in.

Here, listed as #7 feature: http://www.mankerlight.com/manker-mk35-1420m-thrower-flashlight-2550-lumens-cree-xhp35-hi-led-searchlight/

Only explanation for that is they are deliberately delaying smartpost shipments to push more expensive shipping options.

Good to see good reports!
People found from Spain and Germany to look into Royo light

Mine just landed in LA... I should have it by the end of the week...

Second in, looks good
Needed a little lube.

On my 3rd light seems they ran out of screws as they used 3 screws I have never seen and 1 my 2nd one had

how is it tracked? i think mine was shipped 9/29 to los angeles but i cannot track it by fedex or usps. no delivery date shows up yet.

Dragons breath is just fanciful, I’d ignore that and stick to what works.

Brightness has nothing to do with coding, that’s a hardware thing, so ignore that.

For the people that don’t know how to turn it on or off, that is a decision that can be taken out of their hands. Then no more confusion.

I think 99% people don’t need to know when they are on fet or 7135. It does seem kinda neat. Maybe the switch can be on all the time and blink off once or twice to indicate this. I don’t know.

So you end up with:

- Don’t want it at all

- Want it on all the time, w/blinks or not? Not sure…

I find it extremely useful on my Narsil lights to just have a lighted switch to tell me if power is connected or shut off. I can’t even see the switch when my finger is on top of it, so blinks would not be seen anyway.

I think if the brightness were just right, most people would not mind the switch light on all the time. This helps to both find the light as well as the power switch in the dark.

For those few who want the light off all the time, they can twist the battery tube. And when the light is being used and the switch is lit up, they can put their finger on the button to block or reduce the light.
