Q8, PMS SEND TO THOSE WITH ISSUES BLF soda can light

What a crazy thread. :open_mouth:

Nobody knows what country your in, but if the US, then there are good deals on the 30Q batteries. They are very popular. Then the Liitokala LI500 charger does 4 cells at 1 amp each, so that is another very popular choice.

Ps, I’d get 2 of those chargers so as to save time.

Well after a couple of days of playing with the Q8 at my desk, its a great light, no issues on mine, the only thing i keep coming back to is how heavy it is. it feels very solid.

also it might just be me but it feels a little front heavy,

Im not saying its an issue cause its not. i was just very surprised how heavy it is.

Yea it is not light for its size
Using four cells?

What Jason says is what I would say too about cells and charger

Agreed :+1:

Okay now it says I've cleared customs but so far FedEx is dropping the ball.

Nothing unusual there...

Yes it feels solid, good for heat spreading but it limits its portability

Thinking about weight, what if we had sticked to the solid copper pill, like was one of the first ideas? :smiling_imp:

Finally!

I found my first Q8 in the mailbox a couple hours ago! The wait has been so long i wasn’t expecting it before another month or two… and my BT 30Qs are not even charged!

On quick first inspection everything looks good. Second batch with small screws on the driver. Threads lubed, leds rather well centered - not perfect but i don’t care that much, screw heads look fine, no scratches or dings anywhere, reflector and lens clean, switch leds even, no bur in the battery tube… Good job TF and the Q8 team!

The only visible imperfection that someone pointed out earlier are some machining marks in the bezel gaps. You really have to look for them.

This is probably one of the best finished light i got from china at this price point.

More comments to come after sunset… :smiling_imp:

Nice!

It's here! Unpacked and initial inspection complete. New screws, ano looks good, green button leds seem aligned and balance (unimportant to me personally but for info purposes), threads were lubed but really dirty so I cleaned and applied Super Lube and all is smooth now. Good bit of debris (dust?) on the inside near the springs so used canned air to clean out. All clean and shiny now.

It's actually smaller than I thought it'd be. Less like a Coke can and more like a Red Bull with a little bit fatter head. Great size.

I was REALLY UNIMPRESSED with the output, however. It barely lit up my fence less than 25 yards away UNTIL I realized it was 5:30pm and sun was still out. I never professed to be a genius but that was definitely not one of my smarter moments..., but I was an excited flashaholic and couldn't wait until dark to light up my new toy.

I couldn't be more pleased with the output without the aid of the sun and the tint is just perfect. "So warm" as my daughter put it. This morning the Q8 in the fog looked like a beacon. I love using a flashlight in the fog/mist.

Cheers to the team. Great work.

My light arrived today and the first thing I noticed was the button looked to be off center and there wasn't any click on the button press. After looking closer I realized it wasn't off center but was actually slanted to the right at an angle. The light functioned, but it took a full press and there wasn't any feedback when it made contact. After picking at it with a fingernail I was able to get it aligned and working properly, but it's too easy to have it get stuck again if you press the button at an angle. The skinny button post is getting lodged in the corner of the boot. Maybe something to think about if there is a future revision, unless mine alone is the only one experiencing this problem.

Otherwise, everything else has checked out so far and am enjoying the light!

Haha haha you had me good!

akovia strange
Maybe take a look under the switch cover?

You’re the first one to report that so far, I think. If you can open the switch, it should be easy to see what is wrong. It looks like there’s either a major defect in the rubber switch boot or the switch itself is way off center. I think there’s a second switch boot in the box by the way.

Yes I asked for a switch booth so people could adjust the feel of the clicks.
Hope it is just a simple swap in this case.

the tint is just wonderful on these. If I didn’t know better I would think it was a high cri nichia 219c.

After looking at it more closely, it seemed that the middle of the button was bulging up a bit. I nipped maybe a 1mm from the boot post that contacts the button and everything is laying flat now. This seemed to fix the problem as I can't recreate the slant anymore. Thanks for the tips!

By the way, the actual button looked to be centered just fine.

akovia, good news! Thanks.

JIGHEADWORM big fan of this tint as well.
I don’t have real bright 219C lights to compare, all my high cri lights are not very bright.

Who has button top batteries in stock in the US? I usually buy from liionwholesale but they are out of stock on a bunch of them. Not sure who else to trust for authentic cells.

Mountain Electronics is extremely trustworthy. Samsung INR18650-30Q 3000mAh Unprotected Button Top

In the manual, whats the difference between #1 Locator led and #3 Indicator led and what does battery level Indicator do?
