Imalent DX80 32000 lumen monster

Congrats.Imalent is Lottery

This guy has problem with charger…

Ya, those cheap adapter can’t last long.
Maybe has to use laptop charger as replacement.

In my case, the AC adapter seems to be bad.Damaged just by using it once :rage:

The good news though is that it is outrageously bright, the reason I ordered mine.
Nothing boring about this light.

First thing I will do when I get mine is measure the open circuit voltage of the charger and the voltage under load.
Then I will use those numbers to use an external variable current limiting power supply to see how many amps this light draws when charging. Those numbers will be useful if my charger blows like the guy in the video.
Maybe the best way to charge it is with an external power supply

I have a Dell XPS L702X laptop, which has a charger at 19.5V/2.5A.(The original from Imalent, writes 19V/2000mA).Is this good for the light?

I think so. But you better measure DX80 charger adapter voltage to have confirm voltage number. I don’t trust those number very much although mostly they are accurate.
I cut many lousily small adapter connector head and connect them to bigger adapter with similar voltage. Of course after they stop working.
I guess Imalent knows they are selling the connector head as back up for the lousy adapter.

I have had the same issue with the charger adapter the symbol of the flashlight did not light up. Sent few messages on Monday to BG they runaround me & I received their message yesterday that the adapter is in back order!. I’m considering to file a case to paypal. I totally lost confident with Imalent since my order was placed end of July.

^ Adapter is in back order? You’ll just receive another one that goes poof after 15 minutes. Imalent need to at least source a different charger which will take extra time I’d say. Well at least the light didn’t go poof.

Ow, like I told few weeks……

THIS LIGHT IS VERY EXPENSIVE!

I think if ultrafire was the manufacturer of this light it certainly have more reliability and costs less

I first thought it was funny… Then I realised you’re probably right, haha! :confounded:

I think the light is fine, it breaks shear output record of stock light.
Charging adapter might not be tested thoroughly enough.
Well, I have seen many good brand charging adapter failed for example HP. Just that they failed after a few years, not one time use.

I am also a BG, but was it a reply that BG would not correct it?

First they asked me a ridiculous question, whether the adapter was DC 19v & then no reply! I sent them another message if I don’t receive the answer I may file a case to paypal. They replied almost instantly & gave me an order # but it’s in back order & I don’t know how long do I have to wait. I totally sent them 4 messages plus 2 emails! Bad customer services.

I’m it as DC Power Supply it is possible to see the current value,This not smoke out it?

The accessory of DX80 was 18V2A.
19V?? Is this an accessory?

Imalent barely know how to make flashlights, so I’m sure active cooling is even harder for them. Even top name flashlight companies have trouble with it.

About the fan size, even a tiny fan can make a huge impact. Just think of laptop fans.

I marked it spam

True, but then they tend to be noisy.
Better with a big fan at less rpm (if possible).

My AC/DC Adapter also failed after 2 hours during first charge attempt on DX80. I checked with DMM, dead just like the one in the previous post with pic. I contacted Banggood and they replied that I should send pic of packing slip, make video of problem and post to YouTube and send them link, and take other pics which will help them. I answered that is not going to happen. I already sent them 3 pics of the adapter and invoice slip that was included inside shipment showing exact item ID # and all the information they really should need to know I purchased this item and what I paid for it. I requested that they contact Imalent and have them send me a new replacement AC/DC Adapter for the DX80. In the meantime I am using a laptop charger that is also rated for 19V, the same as the Imalent defective charger was. The Imalent charger was rated for 2 amps, the laptop charger is rated 3.42 amps, should be no problem using higher amp charger, the light will only draw what it needs, and it needs at least 2 amps. Any 19V charger with at least 2 amp rating and a 5.5mm X 2.5mm charging plug will work.

But the charger I am temporarily using is for a Toshiba laptop. It has a big brick in the middle with charging cable coming out one side and power cable out the other. Too bulky. So I searched and found a “wall wart” style 19V style charger that is about the same size as the one that came with the light. It is a charger used to charge an Asus laptop. Also has 5.5mm X 2.5mm charging plug. Readily available at your usual online sources.

The light works fine so far and is pretty impressive. Charger on mine is the weak link and a relatively inexpensive item to replace. That is the challenge for Banggood. How much time and energy is a person going to put into getting just the AC/DC Adapter replaced. I think they are counting on most people giving up and not be willing jump through the long list of hoops they require you to jump through.

But I might be wrong. They might surprise me (and a few others) and take my word for the adapter being broken/defective and somehow send a replacement. Funny thing is I’m not interested in a $5 refund that I expect they will offer. I have money, I don’t have a working compact charger for my newly purchased Imalent DX80.
