Can I use this with the Sofirn NiMH 3800mA …. ?

Looks very nice, especially for that price, but does it turn on at high first by default? That is a serious drawback.

It is also very long for an AA/14500 compared to most, beam profile, is it floody/throwy?

No link to the offer - I would throw $7 out of curiosity but where?

The light is for sale on their Aliexpress store HERE :+1:

Thank!

Nice one Trevi_lux

I’ve been tempted by a few Sofirn lights, but after reading about their “3800mAh” AA cell it’s going to be a while before I can trust the brand.

Here’s a link HKJ’s review:

I don’t have this light, but from reading the web page, I think the combination of the following two “features” make for a frustrating UI:

  1. The light always comes on in high
  2. Double click for strobe

I’m guessing there is some amount of time you have to stay in high before clicking again to get to M and then to L. Seems like you would bump into strobe if you clicked too fast. I guess if you always intend to turn on the light in high then it is a good deal. But the strobe “booby trap” may get you if you want to quickly jump through the brightness levels to get down to low.

Jackie (or anyone else), is there any visible PWM (flickering) in the low modes when you wave the flashlight before your eyes?

MascaratumB said here that it does have PWM.

Yes, there is a drawback for this 5 modes, but the price is cheap, they have a better AA mini lamp named SP10A ,much better, but the price twice…

Oh, i not professional then… as the price~ i think is a very good build and quality

No, good working for me, maybe i am not so professional as your guys. take the price into account, it is worth and nice build ,

yes, i think… if the voltage is within the range 0.9-4.2V

but, I did not see any 3800mAh AA battery from Sofirn official store, there AA with capacity 2600mAh max

It is not “visible” to the eyes (at least mine :D), but it does have PWM in all modes through a camera! I can’t post pictures of it, as the driver wire unsoldered yesterday and I didn’t solder it back yet!

About throw or flood, it has more or less the 2, being more floody with an hotspot!

For me, the + on this light is the body, as it is ready to be beaten, it is thick aluminium. It works well with AA Ni-MH and unprotected Sanyo 14500. The other components are good as well! I received 2 of these lights and despite they had the same specs, on has a more yellow tint, while the other was more white to rosy! Not bad, but not pure NW as well.

The UI…well, it was said and I agree, not my kind! Always turn ON on High… :confounded:

I guess Sofirn tried to correct this UI in their new lights, SF14 and SP10A, although I miss a ML mode! I have both lights on the way and I hope to compare them soon, also with this SF10 and the Lumintop Tool AA !

For the price, this is a nice light, though!

Much professional than me SP10A and SF14, the new arrival AA flashlight, seems much power and better design, anyway, the price of SF10 very good, as well as the build
