Favorite travel charger + powerbank combo?

Hi all,

What’s the lightest weight/smallest option that meets this criteria?

1. Can charge li-ion and nimh (14500, 18650, AA NiMH, AAA NiMH)
2. Can also act as a power bank, not just a charger
3. Is as small as possible. A single slot is fine.

What I’ve been looking at:

- Liitokala 100 - fits the above, but is a little large

- Miller ML-102 - seems to be li-ion only

- NiteCore F1 - li-ion only

  • Olight UC - looks perfect, but can’t act as a powerbank!

afaict the Liitokala 100 is LiIon only also

Xtar WP2s on sale for $7… also LiIon only

be warned they sent me an email after my order asking for $3 shipping, I replied that shipping is free, and they sent the charger.

Lii-100 can do NiMh as well.

At the current price of $3, it’s really hard to beat. It’s very light.

NiMH and power bank really limit your options.

Go to the above page and sort by Slots then under Chemistry look for NiMH and LiIon

Pretty sure these are the only good options:

Opus BT-C100
LiitoKala Lii-100
Skilhunt M1

If you were going to limit it to Li-ion only, which would you go with? Miller ML-102?

The M1 and the Lii-100 look more or less the same to me.

ML-102 can only handle 18650 cells. In your original post, you also mentioned 14500…

I own the F1 which I think might be the smallest of the bunch and have no complaints.

thanks for the link and education, much appreciated
now Im tempted. I like that it is a USB charger…
My Xtar requires AC, or cig lighter, not my first choice…

How about the Power bank function, compare and contrast?
the Lii-100 being single cell, and the Xtar being dual cell, does either one have a relevant capacity advantage?

Imaginary scenario, going camping for the weekend… No electricity nor Automobile power for 48 hours,

3 items to charge:
1900mAh iPhone, 1200mAh Aspire in 18350 in a PT16 light, 900mAh AAA Eneloop Pro in a Maratac
Total is 4000 mAh

and while we are on the subject of power banks and chargers…
what might be a good Solar Charger option, to recharge the Power Bank, and or to direct charge the iPhone?

hope that’s not too much of a hijack… I just got back from camping with my power bank and saw a friend charge his phone with a solar panel… it seemed to work very well… but I have no direct experience, yet… Something else to buy, oh boy!

I did not actually run out of batteries in any of my devices, and did not use my power bank, but you know, its fun to shop for new toys to fulfill Imaginary Scenarios

Not sure what you’re asking. Obviously the Xtar will be able to supply roughly twice the capacity because you can load it up with 2 cells instead of one. From an efficiency perspective, you can review HKJ’s review graphs for both chargers, but I think they should be pretty close.

You will be able to charge your iPhone by using the Lii-100 as power bank if you put in an already charged Li-Ion cell in it. But what are you going to use as power source to charge the 18350 and the Eneloop Pro cells? Oh, I get it… these are rechargeable flashlights.

Besides bringing more batteries
What might be a good Solar Charger option, to recharge the Power Bank, and or to direct charge the iPhone?

here is one to beat

@Pete7874 the PT16 has a microUSB port

true, but the AAA/NiMh Maratac does not, that is why the Lii 100 interests me

as far as the PT16, besides the microUSB option, which could be powered by the power bank, or a Solar charger, the PT16 battery is removable, so with a Solar panel, and the Lii 100 either the 18350 cell or the AAA NiMh could be recharged by solar power to the charger, (when not using the power bank function of those chargers)…

does that make sense?

thanks for the info, where is it $3?
I found $3.79

Yes, I updated my post after realizing that. Thanks.

$2.99.

It was actually $1.99 last month.

thanks, well, one thing led to another and I ended up buying this NiMh charger,

which would plug into the Powerbank I already have…

and here is proof I went camping…

you can tell I was really roughing it… lol

Lii 100, or the twin version is perfect and can charge NimH, LiIon to 4.2 or 4.35V, even LiFePO4. Good powerbank (only when powered with a Lithium cell)

Automatic or manual selection of cell type, will bring back totally discharged cells “from the dead”, selectable 500mA or 1A charge rates.

Good 1A output powerbank. The twin version only has powerbank operation from one of the two cells AFAIK.

A truly great charger for ludicrously little money. Why look any further ?

excellent
it would also work as a power bank to charge my mini usb flashlight

suppose I took the Lii100 camping, with some precharged 18650 cells, to use as a powerbank

would Lii100 work as a power bank to charge AAA NiMh through this?:

I dont see why not. You’d just need to get a proper cable.

will let you know in about a month… no cable needed, the AAA charger has a USB tip that goes into the USB output of the power bank…
