Emisar D1

Hm…. had one SST40 suspended upside-down in Coleman fuel overnight. The dome still did not fall off. I think Coleman fuel just isn’t strong enough. :rage:

Try to get something that contains Toluene. It makes short work of the sst-40s.

Ordered my first Emisar. A green D1
I have a dedomed SST40 and a stock domed on the way to me from kaidomain. I will try and measure stock XP-L HI, domed and dedomed SST40 output and kcd numbers.

Just got done putting an sst40 in my d1. I got 45kcd and 2350 lumens on a fresh vtc6.

I just noticed my D1 didn’t come with a centering ring. I emailed Richard from Mountain Electronics about it just now. Waiting for a responce. Anyone else get one without the centering ring? I thought it was normal until I saw Ven’s picture.

Is the black plastic around the emitter not a centring ring? Mine looks exactly the same as yours.

Mine has that, which to be honest I didn’t notice that until you posted yours, but it doesn’t have this. I hope Ven doesn’t mind that I re-posted his picture. I guess it’s normal. I’m totally cool with that since my emitter is centered properly.

That black plastic is clearly a centering ring. It simply looks like some of these lights were made with white centering rings and others with black. Should be fully functional either way.

It’s not a centering ring since it doesn’t capture the square die. Ethier way it doesn’t matter now since it’s the way they’re making it now. I was just wondering if they screwed up on mine forgetting to put a centering ring. That would have bothered me.
All is good now. That said, I really love this little thrower!

It doesn’t have to. It is enough to barely touch the led corners.
Look the Convoy L6. It has the same type centering ring for XHP70 just bigger and white. The MCPCB is black. that is what you see around the led.

You’re right. Thanks my friend.

Does the D4 or D1 have a higher lumen continuous run time after say 3 minutes? Which appears brighter after that time? I’m assuming the D1 is much more efficient with only one LED. How would an SST40 like the D1vn affect this?

Anyone with an XPL HI D4 and a D1 care to answer this?

Finally, anyone willing to sell me a couple 18650 tubes bored out for 20700? Or do it if I ship the tubes?

Everybody is waitingfor the d1s
But as it any chance to be better than the manker u21 or the nitecore p30 ? Both are very good and dirt cheap…
I want to buy a thrower now, winter and darkness is now.

I can’t say anything anything about Nitecore, but I own a D1, owned UT-02.
In comparison to UT-02, D1s will:

  • throw slightly better
  • lose throw over runtime (worse driver)
  • have way better UI (though I don’t consider the UT-02 UI particularly bad)
  • have way lower runtime
  • not be able to sustain its output (not sure about UT-02 really)
  • have smaller hotspot
  • feel better in the mouth
  • weigh less?
  • cost slightly more (comparing to the lowest prices ever)?

Frankly, I’m not waiting for D1s. I’d rather have UT-02 with a better driver, which would make UI better and double the output (and throw). It would cost more than D1s, be thermally limited, but performance would be superb.

I feel pretty much the same way. With a thrower in particular I value being able to maintain a flat output for most of the runtime, and the U21 can maintain 80% of its output for over 80 minutes with a 5200mAh 26650. I also kind of feel like if you have such a chunky head, the 26650 makes more sense than attaching it to a tiny tube, but I guess that’s personal preference. I hate the U21 UI with a passion. The long press to turn off, lack of turbo shortcut, and inexplicable emphasis on strobe modes piss me off every time I use it.

totobel trolling once again, u21 dirt cheap…

U21 maybe not, bit the ut02 will very likely be cheaper.
So the only thing the d1s is the ui, ok its important but the rest is even more.
U21/Ut02 is THE best thrower bellow 80$ then I guess ? Wrong topic to say so, I admit. I had the wrong expectations i guess

Very true.

I actually don’t agree. Personally, I think there are 2 options that make more sense than 26650.

  1. 21700. I actually use my lights in the mouth and 26650 is just too big. This has close capacity, less size and weight and should feel better mouth-held.
  2. 3*18650. Chunky, heavy. Great capacity. Good grip.

Not that I consider 26650 a bad choice, I just like the above 2 (especially the 1st) more.
I do not like 18650 with such heads just like you though.

D1s will be just a different light. Far better thrower, other battery, formfactor, ui.
