Qi Wireless Charger Quality

I generally stick with high quality tested chargers for my 18650s.

Do I need to be concerned about quality for these qi wireless chargers? Since the phone controls the charging, is there anything specific to lookout for?

There appear to be a few on BG for a decent price, not really looking to spend the common asking price of $40 for one.

Also curious, just got an iPhone 8 Plus and will probably get a charging pad for it at some stage

There is differences, one is how hot it gets, another is how much power it can transfer.
A few years ago I did write a bit about them, it was not a review, just a check on how they worked.

First, the regular Qi chargers are painfully slow. You probably want to opt for one that supports fast wireless charging. Note that those also require a more powerful AC adapter (usually Qualcomm Quick Charge) to function properly.

Second, I don’t know how much I trust a “fast” wireless charger that costs $7. Both in terms of reliability and actually delivering it’s claimed performance.

I personally have been using the Samsung Fast Wireless Charging Stand for the last 2 years with my Galaxy S7. Currently $31 on Amazon Fast Charge Wireless Charging Stand W/ AFC Wall Charger (US Version With Warranty), Black https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01BMDQ9U8/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_3WK6zbSCXE85F, and it includes the Samsung Fast Charge Wireless Charging Stand W/ AFC Wall Charger (US Version With Warranty), Black https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01BMDQ9U8/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_3WK6zbSCXE85F Samsung Fast Charger (same thing as Qualcomm Quick Charge). There are other options, but when you factor in the wall chargers they usually work out to the same price.
