So today a plumber came to fix the hot water and his interior light of his Van died and can’t see a thing even with his little flashlight (beam is too narrow). I whooped out my HaikeLite MT03 and turbo it and he was like “HOLY!” “That’s one heck of a light!!”
While he’s working and try to get inside the water tank room to see stuffs, his little light had him some troubles he needs to move the light around. So I turbo that MT03 and tail stand it, he was like “I need to get one of this flashlight! what’s the name of this flashlight??”
He actually wrote the flashlight name down in his phone and ready to google it when he gets home lol
Everyone like a good flashlight when they need it. There are some pretty good ones even at the big box stores. So either he needs to just update what he currently has, or get a little crazy and get 1 from China. Either way, it appears he needs to get a new flashlight since his profession would benefit from it.
I agree! The guy is very skillful and fast with his work, he just need a little upgrade on the flashlight

I’ve had a weirdly opposite reaction in many situations. On Canada Day I went to a pitch black field with a group of friends to set off fireworks, and everyone was using the crappy cell phone flashlights. Someone needed to check on something out on the field, so I pulled out my ZL SC600w III HI. The first reaction was “wow, that’s really bright!” followed by “oh yeah, it’s a flashlight not a phone, no big deal”. People are so used to only using their phones, anything brighter is lumped into the general “flashlight” category where nothing stands out because they have no real frame of reference.
One time for work we had to pull some cables under the ground floor, so i took my S2+ 219C at 3Amps, one colleguea said wow, that is nice! He loved it, and couldn’t wait to use it. The other said, why use a flashlight? I’ll just use my phone…
I’m a plumber, and I never would have told him to get any haikelight. The rigors of the job are gonna eat it up in a month and he’s gonna be right back to where he started. Or for that matter any light with multi modes, delicate electronics and high amp draw. I would have told him to get an elzetta bravo with the diffuse lens and bored body, and said “Forget waterproof o-rings. You can take this apart and put it back together WHILE it’s underwater.”
I have one of the earliest bravos ever made, and it’s been in my pocket all day every day since the moment I got it. I use it under very harsh conditions as a plumber, mud, dust, heat, cold, you name it. It’s been completely underwater many times. The only problem I’ve ever had with it is the batteries get the ends pushed in when I tell people, “go ahead, throw it down the street as far as you can.” So I stopped doing that. Try that with your haikelight!
The reason I searched for and found the bravo is that I had way too many lesser lights fail. He may as well flush the money for that haikelight. The elzetta is expensive, but the only time you’ll be sorry you bought the bravo is if you lose it.
Of course we’re not seriously recommending Haikelite coke can blasters. A Convoy S2+ with 3x7135 is a good one for such workers, no matter the firmware.
I tend to get astounded looks when I pull a torch out and ramp it up through the modes as they watch A coworker of mine wants a Convoy S2 just like mine now (he loved the wide spot and relatively tight spill) because he saw me ramping up the lumens to get out of the library, and I’m gonna help set him up with it.
