The AR coating is defected and missing in some area on my HaikeLite MT03 lens. Submit a ticket to GearBest for return & exchange with pictures and they replied me with $5 USD partial refund and I keep the item. Really??? 5 USD? I know I get to keep the item but how much is the light….?
Does anyone know how to remove the lens? I’ve broke many things in my life and I don’t want to break this too…. I’m trying to contact them (GB)or HaikeLite to send a new lens and see if I can fix this myself.
Since I heard shipping back from USA to CN will be like $60 or something.
Also, I can see the output in dimmer on the wall up close range. The missing coating is about 20% area. And it’s noticeable for close up range to the white wall.
I received an Astrolux S41 from Banggood that was not turning ON at all. The battery tube and clicky were OK then I asked for a resend on the complete head only. They asked me to test a few things before confirming to resend the head, it took 2 days and 5 messages.
Update, So I told them a lens is more than enough to fix this problem and I kindly request the lens only. It seems like they just don’t read the message and left it for computer to respond…
So today they offer
Return and do full refund back into my bank (I have to pay shipping which I heard it would be $50~$60 USD)
2. Partial refund and I keep the product, in this case they offered $15 to GB wallet.
3. Resent the item to me and I keep the original but I have to pay handling fee of $60 USD.
Not sure if the handling fee is negotiable to lower or not but all I really need is a lens… ( Can’t even find an aftermarket lens with the right size)
The AR cut off point (purple reflection and no refection)
-What it should look like (AR coating and reflecting purples)
-The spot with no AR coating (No purple reflections)
All 3 images were clear and close up.
Tbh, I was thinking $60 for another MT03 isn’t bad considering how much they are listed. But I don’t really need the same light in the same tint.
I will keep telling them all I need is a glass lens that’s like $5~$10…
Ask in one of the GB forums here? Got some nice reps who might step in to help.

Sometimes it seems that those who do CS just read from a script, and those are the actions they’re locked into. Might not be their fault, just what they’re allowed to do.
Doing it here on a GB-related forum, the reps probably have more leeway and flexibility.
I tried PM and they advised me to submit a ticket since it is after-sale question… I am giving them my few last patience and hope this can be resolved soon
I don’t know how I missed that… thanks!
And what are the difference of non-glass lens vs glass? Would the non glass melt?
it says “LED or low heat applications” MT03 doesn’t get melting hot but it’s pretty warm in my book… I actually saw this few days after I found the defect and it’s the non glass lens stopped me from buying.
1. Remains the same, return the item and refund (I still pay shipments)
2. Partial refun into my GB wallet of $25 USD (first was $5 then they offered $15 to GB wallet)
3. Keep the item and they will resend a new HaikeLite MY03 for $50 handing fee
Well… why can’t they just send a $5 dollar lens lol :person_facepalming:
Saw some reviewers posted a video that GB did a resend with defected product. And I asked if there was handling fees, and confirmed that they (GB) didn’t ask for handling fees.
Is this because they’re product reviewer? And afraid they’re getting bad reviews online?
TBH… I really think the discussion forums like BLF etc can do as much or more impacts…
Maybe just take the $25 credit and buy a new lens from Haikelite or that UCLp unit. Then buy whatever you want with the credit. Seems like a good option.
As they are not the mfg just a distributor. they don’t have “parts” if they take a lens out and send it to you (a convoluted process in china it seems) then they have a light with no lens and its bad/dead inventory. so disassembling and parting out inventory is what they want to avoid at all costs.
Take the money and buy what you want. $25 should cover any thing you choose.
