Defected AR coating on HaikeLite MT03

If I measured it correctly, it is 68mm

They carry a 68mm 2.2mm or 2.9mm thick. About $9 or $10 dollars.

Maybe you can get ask them for $10 refund so you can buy a new lens?

Do you have the link for me to check it out?

I don’t know how I missed that… thanks!
And what are the difference of non-glass lens vs glass? Would the non glass melt?
it says “LED or low heat applications” MT03 doesn’t get melting hot but it’s pretty warm in my book… I actually saw this few days after I found the defect and it’s the non glass lens stopped me from buying.

Shoot a PM to DBCustom. Dale uses these lenses a lot in his hotrod lights. He knows all about them.

Update:

1. Remains the same, return the item and refund (I still pay shipments)
2. Partial refun into my GB wallet of $25 USD (first was $5 then they offered $15 to GB wallet)
3. Keep the item and they will resend a new HaikeLite MY03 for $50 handing fee

Well… why can’t they just send a $5 dollar lens lol :person_facepalming:

Saw some reviewers posted a video that GB did a resend with defected product. And I asked if there was handling fees, and confirmed that they (GB) didn’t ask for handling fees.

Is this because they’re product reviewer? And afraid they’re getting bad reviews online?
TBH… I really think the discussion forums like BLF etc can do as much or more impacts…

So then just review the light. <cackle>

Have you tried contacting Haikelite about buying a new lens?

Maybe just take the $25 credit and buy a new lens from Haikelite or that UCLp unit. Then buy whatever you want with the credit. Seems like a good option.

As they are not the mfg just a distributor. they don’t have “parts” if they take a lens out and send it to you (a convoluted process in china it seems) then they have a light with no lens and its bad/dead inventory. so disassembling and parting out inventory is what they want to avoid at all costs.

Take the money and buy what you want. $25 should cover any thing you choose.

Ooh, 25bux is way better’n 5bux. Yeah, you can get quite a nice piece of glass for that. And more.

They would not do that. They would arrange to have Haikilite send you a lens, but maybe they can’t for some reason. I’m sure a lens from Haikelite is way less than $25 so they must have some type of trouble arranging that.

I know Haikelite sometimes won’t answer emails for days or even a week.

I too would take the $25 credit and buy a uclp. You should get it quick as well since the are in the US.

Thanks for the advice guys! And I did emailed HaikeLite ( 2 times, one on their site and one with direct copy of the email address) No replies.

The thing with 25$ credit is that I can only use on GB website… it’s not a cash refund back to my bank.

If they want to send me a new light I am not paying $50 for it. I will keep on trying and keep updates posted.

Surely you need some batteries or a new light maybe? Ha ha, I have no problem spending money at GB.

Gear Best is getting really bad these days, just keep at them and tell them to please either send a new lens or a new light that’s it.
If you paid with PayPal then you could open a dispute as well or tell them if they don’t send you what you need to get this light fixed you will fly to China a kick some butte, that will scare them. I’m kidding…

They will eventually send you a new light or the lens, I don’t know anyone who has ever mailed anything back to China, but I know plenty of new members who the vendors in China thought they could mess with their minds and make them think they would have to pay $60 to ship the light back and that is baloney,
Banggood and I’m fairly sure GearBest both have U.S. shops and if it were to shipped anywhere it would be there.

I had a Haike with the same sort of AR missing issue and it was from G.B. as well, and they sent me a new light but not after a bunch of back and forth stuff.
I told them I thought Haike had glued the bezel onto the light and I couldn’t get it off and besides I thought that Gear Best was the number one best online store to buy from in China, and I was also told that Gear Best was the best and only place to shop because they are so honorable and always stand behind their products and protect their customers from the thieves and I was also told that Gear Best was always a safe place to shop because they are so honest and that you can always trust them and they are so much better than Banggood who always lies to their customers and just takes their money and tries to trick the customer and always tries to cheat the innocent customer, I told GB that I thought maybe my good friend meant to say Gearbest was the thieves and not Banggood, and they sent me a new light. and a note saying, sorry for the inconvenience, we value you as our customer, Ya, that’s what I thought.

The only way to ship it back to china and make sure it gets there is to use DHL and DHL charges a lot. So many non DHL packages from US to China just dissappear and you are out of luck.

Have you tried flipping the lens over? You only need a good AR coating on the inside. The outside should not matter.

Maybe the outer AR layer could effect the color shift? That I don’t know.

You could always just rub the coating off so you get a consistent, clear lens. Or put the good side towards the leds and then remove the outer sides AR coating.

Is there any way you could post some pics? I’ve never seen an inconsistent coating and how it effects the beam. I guess certain areas are brighter?

The coating is completely not there for the defected part, so flipping them would be the same. I just told GB the best I can do is $25 for resend if free isn’t possible.
If they agreed to that, then cool another MT03 for $25 but what am I going to do with it lol. Shelf queen probably… ( I offered $25 since I don’t want to make this difficult for them too, but I am not paying $50 or $60)

Idk, it seems your making a big deal over a tiny issue that doesn’t even effect the light. It works just fine, right? No power or switch issues, no dents, nothing broken?

few imperfections on the body (mini dents but this I can live with) stripped screws on the battery carriage and the body (Picture is also sent to them), the ON/OFF button feels off, sometimes I will be grab and press the switch and it was the “wrong” spot, I have to find the “right” spot on the switch to turn it ON.
I really don’t want to make this a big deal out of it. Of course we can’t expect it to be perfect but I am sure lots of us expect things to be in a certain way when we paid for the product they purchased.
