Convoy L6... XHP70 Beast!

Does anyone know if Convoy is the only place to buy a new tail switch?

None of my chargers can supply more than 1A per channel (Nitecore i4, Xtar VC4 & Liitokala Lii-202), so I’ve been looking at MiBoxer’s range. But I’m pretty impressed with my Xtar, so it seems that I’ll need to give their rocket charger some consideration. I’ve got several lights that take 4 18650 cells though, so I might be better off getting a 4-bay charger. (or both?)

Currently got my 26650s in the Lii-202 hooked up to a 2.4A USB charger (Orico 4-port), so it should be charging with 1A per channel. But my (cheap) USB meter is only showing me a current that is varying between about 0.5 and 0.7A, and the light for 0.5A charging is lit up on the charger … :expressionless: I can see myself ordering a YZXstudio meter soon, so I know I’m getting accurate readings. And then I’ll need to find a multi-port USB charger that actually supplies what it promises!

I bought a Rocket especially to charge my L6 batteries. I actually bought 2 at $18 each since I have other lights that use 26650 as well.

The new I4 charger only does 0.375A x 4.

The VC4 charger only does 0.5A x 4. I have my VC4 hooked up to a good tablet usb charger rated at over 2A. Sometimes it seems the connection is not good and I’ll see the charge rate on the charger drop down a little. That’s worrysome. I’m going to avoid usb chargers from now on.

Have you looked at the lii-500 charger? It does 1A x 4. Thats pretty good.

I am on the lookout for a 4 bay charger that can do 1.5 amps each for 18650. That’s about the most a good 18650 can do. I’ve looked a little, but haven’t seen one yet.

Yes, I realised after posting that it might be a problem with the battery charger, and not the USB meter or phone charger. I’ve now got the batteries charging in the i4, which uses 750mA per channel if only slots 1&3 or 2&4 are used. I can’t currently remember where I’ve put my VC4 which would give me 2x 1A with 2-slot charging (provided that the USB charger works properly). If I can find it, I should at least be able to narrow down where the fault lies.

Has Simon ever thought about offering a diffusor for the light? Just a simple one to be stuck on the head. I think this would be a very practical addition.

That seems bizarre to me. What purpose would it serve?

I guess you could add diffusion film over the lens.

Sometimes one wants a floodlight. The L6 is easily bright enough to also be used as a work light.

Plenty of requirements that need a diffuser, for area lighting. I’ve been calling for a diffuser for the L6 for ages. That request is now redundant as I have a diffuser on the Q8.

Don’t they make Isopropyl Alcohol in a round opaque white bottle? Wonder if that bottle will fit either the L6 or Q8? Hmmmm….

Edit: Pay attention at the grocery store (take your tape measure) diffusers for all your lights are sitting around on the grocers shelves waiting for you to use what’s in em…

White plastic cup could fit

Anyone know where I can find this on sale or if it will be on sale during the 11.11 event? Trying to get this monster for my friend.

Oh and does it come with 18650 spacers? I know some of these bigger lights come with them (I’ve gotten the Thorfire S70s with spacers).

Thanks!

try the code “cl6gift” on gearbest, works for me on the black version… and i dont think u want to run this light with 18650.

Has anyone tried these Keeppower 27700 batteries in this L6?

http://www.keeppower.com.cn/products_detail.php?id=554

I’ve got older Keeppower 26650 with protection, and they quite tight. Since i have understood this new 27700 is about the same size as normal protected 26650, i think it might fit, but i’m not sure.

Those are protected cells so they’re likely to be as much fatter as the 26650’s that you found tight. I’d venture a guess that they won’t fit the L6.

With a rated 10A continuous discharge I don’t know if they’d drive the L6 like many of us use it. A stock light, should probably be ok. You might could hone the inside of the battery tube and get a snug fit, you’d have good run time with a stock light and 5700mAh capacity.

Why not? If you get a good set of spacers (Simon sells them), the only downside as far as I can see would be less runtime.

For those awaiting a good deal on the L6, it’s around $45 right now not sure BG or GB-…
Check the various deals/coupons and codes threads.

Edit: i must have dreamed it… can’t find it anymore. :person_facepalming:
Edit2: now i’m sure i’ve seen it. I actually wondered wether i would rather get another Q8 instead as they were about the same price - at that instant. Probably during that “black” weekend frenzyness.

Right now on GearBest it is available for 42.51€ (roughly 50$) with FinGB30 code.

Had the clear L6 and 26650 unprotected KeepPower black listed in this thread were just right in L&W.
Just got a Black L6 today to replace the modded Clear I sold and the same KPP black are pretty tight on OD.

I really doubt those 27700 are going to fit in either direction, especially if protected.

You weren’t dreaming, it was around Nov 15th. I got a CW Black one for bout $45. I was in the market for one for a while and think it is the best price I have ever seen.
It just arrived today. Will mod it soon.

I know the recommended battery for the L6 is generally the Keeppower ICR26650 5200mAh, but looking at HKJ's test it is very easy to find better performing cells. So I'm a bit hesitating. Why the KP ICR is considered the best match? Apart from size consideration, is it only because of its protection's circuitry, making it a safer choice for 2x configuration?
