My First XHP35 High Density Light. Olight M2R Warrior Review.

Hi all,
.
This light used the High Density version of Cree’s XHP35. I have to say with the OP reflector it creates amazingly bright spill with a nice big hot spot.

.
Let us hear your thoughts on it.

(LED flashlight newbie here…)

What are the main differences between XHP (I’ve been browsing here and noticed there are XHP35/50/70) versus the XP-L/XP-G/XM-L2 ?

Main difference is configuration. The XP-L, XP-G and XM-L2 are all single die emitters, with a voltage drop of around 3 volts. The XHP series are quad die. The XHP-35 has a fixed voltage drop like 4 dies in series, so it’s ~12V. The XHP-50 and XHP-70 can both be configured like 2S2P (uses ~6V) or like 4S (uses ~12V) depending how the PCB is wired.

Excellent review as always! Seeing those beam shots makes me want to go buy one. The output of the emitter is incredible, can’t believe how tall it is. The evolution of the led has come a long way and is evident in a small flashlight creating a searchlight output.

Nice video with explanation of tailcap modes. I didn’t realize that the inner battery tube is the reason this light does not require a special battery with both pos. and neg. on one end.

I wish this light came with more flexible programming to have more UI groups to choose from. Nice light nonetheless.

thanks!

Great video. This is piquing my interest in a new kind of light for me. XHP in a small 18650.

will we see a convoy XHP35 version ?

I wouldn’t put anything past Simon, but so far I have not seen any “boost” drivers made/used by Convoy, only buck and linear type.

Doesn’t the L6 have an XHP? Anyone know what driver that is using?

I’d love to see an XHP35 Hi C8. That would be a beastly cost effective light. I’d buy one. Curious about the thermal management, though.

On that topic does anyone know the throw of a C8 with xpl hi?

If your speaking of the Convoy L6, it has XHP70. Acebeam L16 has XHP35 HI. A C8 with XPL HI and a mosfet driver will do around 130k cd.

Thanks Vesture, the C8 has more throw than I anticipated. How hard is it to put in a mosfet driver?

Convoy uses a retaining ring to hold their drivers in and screws to the LED so they are very simple. So I would say making the solder joints is probly the toughest part.
