I was hoping for around 5500 lumens from this package size which is perfect. The numbers are a tad low now. Maybe some retesting will show the numbers close to 5000 lumens which is highly possible.
At 10amps we would still see a solid 30 min run time so that is probably the max to go.
Upgrading to XHP70.2 will give a small increase in output but it maybe better suited to the SMO reflector.
Maybe we can work out an agreement if we get more people on board they will upgrade the LED?
I must say I like a distinct hotspot.
And my upgrade was 4000K 80CRI, it has the yellowish corona but it still looks good because the hotspot itself is not blue-ish in comparison (like the XP-G3 does in a reflector light). Not sure what a cool white XHP70.2 hotspot looks like.
I still love XPG3s lol I have a few in C8s and i see nearly no artifacts. The beam profile is nice. To me they look the same to a XPL2. It may also depend on the tint?
I have read through every page and see little detail about the driver. I understand it is not fully finalized just yet, and am guessing thats why.
Many have wondered about the UI. As do I.
From what I can recall after 20 pages, is it still going to be
Moon
Med
High
Turbo - w/3minute timer
will this be w/ another 3 minute timer ? or no timer ?
I first took this to mean reverse as in from high to medium as one “medium press”, and medium to low as another………
The wording however has me wondering if this is not meant as full reversal of the modes….
L, M, H, T
Medium press to make it
T, H, M, L
However I do like the battery voltage monitoring/warning on the lighted side switch. Nice touch there I think. :+1:
What control chip are you using on the driver ?
Perhaps, if the driver is using an Attiny 25 or other common chip, those who want other UI (or someone w/the expertise ) could simply flash it w/Narsil or whatever they chose at a later date.

PS.
Forgive my over-site if any of this has been answered already. Reading all the info in this thread in one go, I well could have missed or already forgotten some of it.
This light is based on the Thorfire S70S, so it will probably be similar to that UI. 5 levels with hidden moon. No backwards cycling. It’s doubtful there will be any Attiny chips used.
I guess they are still working on it, so no one can say for sure what will be the final design.
Yea i am not sure what is going on with the driver. I would assume they are using a standard driver just worked? It would of been good to see a FET +1 installed.
