I'm already in the list and recently got up to date with the design thanks to The Miller's 1st updated post.
I checked it and was wondering:
Why the front glass was changed for a plastic one?
Is it AR coated in some way? (it would benefit the flashlight efficiency & throw considerably)
Have you thought about making a thread at the front to attach a diffuser? (like filters on photography lenses)
It would be VERY helpful to give more "flood" light, if the user wants or needs it. I have it on a Acebeam K60 and works great (I don't know the exact diameter and thread dimensions it should have, 120mm or more I think, maybe it would require a custom made filter, but it would be GREAT to have the option...)
Maybe these topics were already discussed, but I'm almost new to the project, which I found AWESOME, so I decided to get in immediately.
That's easy, this is a huge light that is made for throw. So why would you want to make a diffuser? If you want flood just take a more pocket friendly light with you that has a diffuser. Or take the q8 with you, it has a lot of lumens and is more flood than throw.
I just don't see a reason why you would want a diffuser to create flood for a light this size.
However it is a good point to think about it for a possible future project.
I am here from day one and first time hear about that, so it must be old post while we was still voting about the design. Beside that all prototypes have glass lens.
This is all you need to do. Payment details are not set. Once production starts and it gets close to buying time you will get a PM telling you all the details. What store to go to and what special code to enter to get the discounted price, etc… We may even need to do a small deposit before that. It’s still not known.
I have dropped a modded TK61 from my tree stand and the busted glass scared up the reflector, Fenix was nice enough to send me a new one with another glass lens, found out member D36ME had Chris make one of his for the TK61 so I got one too.
Not that the GT will be ever up in a tree stand with me, but……you never know…
Yeah not to worry about lens that plastic part was indeed from all the way at the beginning
Diffuser? Not planned and yes there are better lights to have a diffuser for
I did use a TN42 to light a barn by pointing it at the roof
The tight beam made sure no blinding side light for people and the bounced light was nice.
