Mini review: 4Sevens Preon P0-SS

Got my 4Sevens Preon P0-SS today, so here's a short review based on my first impressions.

Bought from: 4Sevens.com

Price paid: $22.99 ($24.99 - CPF8)

Pros:
- Small (-er than DQG Tiny II)
- Wide and uniform flood (wider & cleaner than UF-H2b!)
- Good mode arrangement (Lo-Hi, without memory)
- No PWM
- Magnet in tail is stronger than the one in DQG Tiny II
- Build quality seems good
- No battery rattle, even when off
- "Gentleman's DQG" (Stylish, no knurling, polished ends)

Cons:
- No knurling -> a bit slippery, but not so much than I thought it to be!
- Output feels a bit low (because there's NO hotspot)
- Not available as NW
- Turning on doesn't feel as easy as DQG Tiny II (a bit more stiff, maybe just because it's new?)

I'll add more pros/cons as soon as I notice them & might even write a full review later (if/when time)

Here's two pictures comparing to DQG Tiny II:

Sorry about the picture quality, didn't have time to use flash(es).. :(

Overall you think the DQG Tiny II is worth 10$ extra? DQG Tiny II isn't available in NW either or is it?

thank you for the nice comparison, i like the looks of the DQG Tiny II much more

no need to write much

just more pix please (open the torch, beamshots, tint)

thx

Thank you for the mini-review! Do you plan on using it on your key chain or pocket carry? It looks to nice to scratch it up on your keys.

Thanks for first impressions!
Now we need beamshots and battery life on NiMh's :)

Looks like it will be easy to scratch this one while in pocket?

Wide and uniform flood cought my eye.

Wondering why manufacturers even try to make their AA or AAA keychains throwy :|

I own the DQG Tiny II NW from the group buy back in the days. It isn't available anymore ... you have to wait for the III or III titan. Here you write a letter to this one man enterprise and tell him to hurry up and make it inexpensive. ;-)

Side by side beamshots please! :)

Do the heads lego ?

DQG Tiny II was available as NW, I suppose the III will be as well.

The $10 depends on your personal needs: The DQG feels like a thrower compared to this. ;)

I'll try to get some beamshots (or should I call them floodshots?) this evening.

Can't promise battery life charts though. Maybe HKJ can do them shortly?

NP. I agree, but I think I need to use this in my key chain to see how easily it scratches.

You are right. I think the uniform flood would be the main reason for buying this!

OTOH, I think it's good to have _some_ throw also in keychain format.

Oh, YES they do! Both ways.

And the result of legoing the DQG body with P0 head is a even shorter AAA flashlight: 0.5mm shorter than P0 itself!

Won't it be a totally green light at that lumen rate? My Quark's lows really are green. And my totally floody UF H3D is totally blue. I couldn't find a good flood light with good tint yet.

no need for graphs or charts. they were already done.

looking forward to floodshots and tintshots, thx ;)

Here's some beamshots.

Thanks for watching!

The best Preon P0 beamshots on the net, thanks a lot!! A pleasure to look at. i think i prefer the DQG beam pattern :)

Great pics, thanks!

I just might try 4S after a long break because of this light.

_the_: any idea of the actual brightness on low?

It's "low". :)

During daytime you might not notice it being on. Significantly less than DQG Tiny II.

It's also hard to say because of the floody beam pattern, but I would estimate it to less than 1 lumen (when compared to Thrunite Ti Firefly and 3lm versions).

_the_

Looks like a really classy item. I certainly understand the "gentleman" notion.

I personally dont like such a floody keychain light, but on the other hand i dont like too throwy either.

Looking forward to hearing your opinion about it in a week or two when you have really gotten to know it though.

:-)

I received my Preon P0 yesterday. I hadn’t expected that the Light is so floody. Very special. The magnet tail ist strong and I like the low ‘low’ mode. Imho the best I’ve seen so far.
