Is this a good deal?

Should I buy one?

In accordance with the Cree specifications, the max. current for XP-E is 1A. (And XPE have less tolerance than the XRE)

Therefore it is absolutely impossible to get to 400 lumens...Although this specific reflector can be exploited for a XP-G.

I received mine. I like it. Compared to my last year's MCE light, this has comparable output. Quality for $15 is very good. You change the battery from the head end. I have no idea how the switch could be removed if it goes bad. There are two orings on the head. Threads feels nice and were prelubed. It is able to tail-stand but just barely. The most important thing is that memory actually works! The low is useful. It is difficult to measure the current draw because the tailcap does not come out. My crude measurement show about 1200mA for high and 100mA for low. The later is useful for close work. I have kept it on high for couple of minutes and it only got warm. The low has just perceptable PWM which I wish it did not. The hotspot is strong and it is be able to throw quite good. Personally I prefer more diffused beam but given this is made for throw, It has smooth reflector and no Cree rings.

I already dropped it on a concrete floor but it did not chip the coating. For the price quality is certainly great. The glass looks good. I do not notice special coating but no reflection as it would be with cheaper glass. With actual working memory and useable low, smaller form factor with decent throw, low priced, decent holster (I don't use it) I consider this to be an excellent deal. It could be made by Sky Ray as the quality seems to be there. If it did not have the PWM (noticeable when you swing the light fast), I would have rated it as outstanding for the price. As it is it only "excellent" :-)

Before making this purchase, I was consdering the 801 as I like its form factor but if I recall its memory implementation is not right i.e. it "forgets"

I also have Yezl Z1 on order and that should satisfy my need for 801 as I expect Z1 to beat 801 in all categories. It better as it is 50% more expensive!

P.S. Thanks for this forum, CPF had became completely unbearable.

Remove the strap and hold the Green rubber switch and un-screw it

So it screws in from bottom? I hope it has some o-rings there too.

I forgot to mention that the shipping was prompt and I received the light in less than 2-weeks to mainland USA.
