Possibly a good deal on ebay - Ended up as a scam

sigh... u guys are friggen rediculous lol

We know who to blame if it all goes wrong?

I'm not going to name anyone

Budgeteer

"The user you are contacting is registered on another eBay site and may speak a different language. Your message will be sent exactly as typed below"

haha funny

Haha!

Well, you can't kill the messenger for bad news. Anyway i checked my paypal status and it was indeed unclaimed playpal account. I decided to cancel my transaction and contact the seller! Maybe ill get the flashlights eventually if all goes well with any feedback. Before anyone reaches for a firearm i would advise caution since many pointed out that is probably a scam.

If anyone would be upset with me for exposing a possibly good deal that turns out a scam i suggest to ignore the ebay link.

Thanks for sharing the option to cancel paypal transactions. I didn't know it was possible to do so. I'm new to paypal.

what you talking about. kings kill messengers all the time!

If someone wants to write a simple guide how to not get scammed on ebay ill be interested to read it. :)

They used to. :)

I did the same thing. I believe we're still committed to buy the item if he will accept payment though. We'll see what he says.

I don't think there is much to it. As long as you pay through eBay and PayPal, you are protected. But with an auction you have to provide the payment before the shipper has to send the item. If the item isn't as described, you get your money back. However this ad does say that return shipping is your responsibility. So if they just send you a rock, then you have pay to send the rock back in order to get your money back. Even if the seller doesn't pay you back, eBay will as long as you follow their rules.

I had a bid go bad once for some Energizer lithium batteries in North Carolina (just one state away so I though it would go pretty well) and the guy didn't send the batteries and didn't respond to e-mails. Eventually I got my money back, but I think eBay or PayPal wound up paying, not the unscrupulous seller. That's part of what the eBay fees go towards though.

I will pass up this one not only because I already have an UF R5 and a TF R5-A3 but I doubt it's real.

There was a report a few months ago about people getting an empty iphone packaging after bidding on "iphone xG xxGB Original Verpackung" on german ebay. The picture showed the phone with the packaging but the text referred to the packaging only, although purposely easily misleading. So they paid about 200 Euros for an empty box.

I can't see any names of the lights that are actually sold in the descriptions, so I will be quite surprised if they really sell the ones displayed (could be just "example pictures", so you get an idea what a flashlight looks like in general).

Budgeteer I'm only joking about blaming you !

Thanks for informing about the good deal

A lot of people have bought this flashlight from this seller http://cgi.ebay.com/CREE-Led-300-Lumens-Flashlight-801-Torch-Lamp-Holster-/170468474938?pt=UK_SportsLeisure_Camping_LightsLanternsTorches&hash=item27b0b6803a#ht_3037wt_906

and in description there isnt any word that this is Trustfire TR-801, but it is, so I believe that there is some reason not to state the name of brand...

maybe they are selling it without permission of the company ... who knows

Hehe, no I don't think it's anything like this. If a global player was involved, maybe. But permission/license trouble in hk/prc with a few dollar flashlights? No way.

I cancelled the transaction.... all of you should do that, because if you read carefully, in "vendor email" is says "not verified yet".

Try to give this info to the most people you can........

But if you look at "Package content" it actually says "1 x CREE LED 5w TR-801 Flashlight Torch".

The current offer doesn't say anything like that, so I'm still suspicious.

They still have to give you what is pictured. I made a .pdf of the product page in case it gets pulled or changed. That would be a tough case to make that the pictures don't have anything to do with what you are getting. But clearly this person just pulled the pictures from another seller, which tells you something.

Well, I really hope that it turns out to be the deal of the year.

But then, I also hope Santa Claus will be nice to me on Xmas.

Just a thought regarding this:

"In case the item is defective, please inform us within 30 days of receipt, we will replace a new one. No Refunds are offered.

Buyers have to pay for the return cost"

Let's say you get a Black Cat (or similar) instead of an XP-G Skyray.

Will you take the pain to ship it back to Australia (or wherever) to be exchanged?

I guess my decision was very spontaneous when I saw the price :)

so I have canceled the order

lets hope fran82 you are right

Dont do it guys! ITS 100% a SCAM! I recognized this location from a similar scam, when someone was selling wireless mouses at umbelivable low prices. The location was the same:

"Upper Mt Gravatt, Queensland, Australia"

Also remember:

- if the deal is (way) to good to be true, it probably is!

- if the seller is not from China, its also very likely that deal is a scam, because there is a little chance that sellers from elsewhere can sell items with such a low prices (still its posible, but not probable)

- the seller CAN actually create several ebay registrations, so that it can give himself a positive feedback. Its not likely, that he crates more than 20 registrations - "the wireless mouse guy - probably the same guy as in this deal" had like 4 positive feedbacks.

Watch out!
