[PART 1] Official BLF GT Group Buy thread. Group buy officially closed! Lights shipping.

We have a $1000 limit here in Australia before tax.
I have NEVER had a problem with the seller altering the value for me .
Never paid a cent in tax EVER.

Talk to who ever is sending it and ask for a favor.
Never had anybody say NO.

Apple, Google, Coke and about 50 other companies and most of our politicians pay NO TAX here in Australia… Why should little ol me then .

Ok, so today I stole a few minutes to install the XHP70.2 80CRI 4000k in the V2 prototype. HM440H model for anyone interested.

I LOVE THIS LED!

This LED looks SO much better then the 4000k 70CRI that was in it before. It is a lower bin and it lost some output but not as much as I would have thought. Still easily as bright as an XHP70 except without as much of a dark spot and with 80cri.

I tried a few different sized centering rings. Throw readings showed a peak of ~440kcd (vs ~450kcd for the 70cri) with a 2mm centering ring.

Although I am going to print up a new centering ring that is ~4mm tall since manual focusing shows that around there throw only drops to ~430kcd yet the dark spot virtually disappears. WELL worth the trade off.

So what do I end up with?

A ~6000 lumen (possibly more since the throw readings are so close to the 70CRI @ 7000 lumens) 80CRI 4000k 1300m+ throw GT with corona tint shift hardly worse then the stock XHP35.

This light will be keeping this setup for sure, it is fantastic! I would never have guessed that the 80cri version would have this kind of improvement in the tint shift issues. I still don’t know why but it has very little tint shift (not perfect but only slightly worse then the XHP35 that comes stock once focused).

I expect that slicing the dome would have similar results to the 70CRI version with ~1600m+ of throw but I am not willing to risk another $10 LED to find out right now, maybe if I get board or feel lucky later.

Or if someone wants to donate an LED to the cause I can put it on the sphere to test the output and try slicing the dome to see those results as well.

my input into the list , I ordered 1 flashlights

Is this still at the higher than recommended 6A or the recommended 5A?

Hey, post 11k.

You want to be added to the list for 1 light, correct?

You should be getting your PM, personal message, in early January with all the details on how to pay.

Bozlight29, is that Facebook page private or public? I’m curious about his bed and breakfast. It would be nice to get pictures of the place. Also to see what The Miller looks like. Lol

right, add me to the list.
BLF-GT which design model sells which one? because I see there are various designs BLF-GT

There is only 1 production version right now. The others are all just prototypes that were used to perfect the production version.

Coyotehawk will add you to the list.

There is only one version being sold. It has xhp35 and holds 8 batteries. The short pictures you might have seen were early protoypes. Here is the latest version.

More pictures are here, from Texas Ace.

Thanks JasonWW,
Yes of course I lowered the charger to to its lowest 0.1 for the 10180`s.

The Miboxer C4-12 does look good especially for the money and would love that 3.0A 1 hour charge.
But the build quality of the Xtar is the best of any charger I have ever had.
Yes it is very expensive and cost me over AU$100.
But it really is a good charger,
I love it.

Did you see the picture of the small metal pieces that come with Gryafalcon , Still not sure how they fit in.

@SILIWANGIPARAHYANGAN
Hello there is only one design (Final)

It really helps to click the “qoute” button on the post you want to reply to. This gives a reference for what your saying. There are so many conversations going on I forget what I said and to who, sometimes.

I saw those L shaped pieces. I don’t know how they fit. Have you ever contacted Gyrfalcon and asked them?

Maybe they attach to the sliding blade that touches the negative end of the battery. I assume it is some kind of spacer, but it’s hard to tell without it in my hands to figure out the puzzle.

I forgot about that in my excitement. Those numbers are at 6A.

At 5A it still gets ~1200m throw (will know better once I get the centering rings printed). Compared to 1250m for the 70cri version (this could change slightly with final focusing).

So it looks like this LED is around ~10% less output based on the throw numbers compared to the 70CRI version.

This means it should still be over 6000 lumens at 5A and over 7000 lumens at 6A.

That trade off is a no brainier for me with the improved CRI and vastly improved tint shift.

The XHP 70.2 results are very nice. Cant imagine what would it look like if it was a DD setup. Either way, could you post a few beamshots for us, mere mortals, who do not have it yet?
And I have 2 other questions.

  1. How does the GT handle the heat from the XHP 70.2? Does it get hot if you let it on the “high” or “turbo”?
  2. What would be the throw of a sliced XHP 50.2 at 5 amps? Would it be worth modding or not?

I will try to get some beamshots after I print off a centering ring and get the focus sorted out so as to give the correct impression.

It gets warm for sure but I have not ran it for more then a few minutes at a time so far. It handles the power better then any other light I have but I still expect it to get too hot to hold if ran long enough at room temperature.

A 50.2 could have some good results indeed, the issue would be finding a 12V DTP mcpcb that would fit in this light (aka, is big enough).

Finally my payment has been made for my 2 lights

I still wonder about The Miller’s prolonged absence (Almost 3 weeks) I have read the updates and all but I can’t keep my mind from wondering why he just decided to drop off the face of the forum completely. I wish him well…

Maybe just a post, to let us know how is everything going…

I own several Xtars and while they are good, having the new Miboxers will change your mind.
