Dash cam advice wanted (dashboard camera)

I got a go-pro-like cubecam, and a little suction-cup gramba that sticks it to the windshield. Easy to clip/unclip as needed, so the camera goes with me and never stays in the car unattended.

Good place to check out DashCamTalk .Those guys know their dashcams and talk about actioncams too.

Awesome website...

Thanks bigly!

Just bought GitUp F1 for a combined actioncam/dashcam use.Havent used it as a dashcam yet but for actioncam use it is very good.
GitUp said they are bringing capacitor model for F1. Viofo A119S should be a good choice especially for nighttime performance with Starvis sensor. Viofo and GitUp cams are made by same company.

I use the A119 original, no gps. Works great. I moved the old A118c to the back glass.

My only complaint is that the save-lock clip button can be a little tough to find by feel.

I have had several dash cams over the years and have found the DOD-Tech to be rhe most reliable, highest quality optics, full featured and easiest to use

I run the original a119 with the GPS data logger. It does run at a higher res, 1440 vs 1080, than the S version and has a L-R moveable lens. They really aren’t that much different. The big thing is that they use capacitor power for powering off recording/saving. I’ve only pulled the card once and it’s impressive video quality. It’s important to get a good card for these with all the rewriting. I think I’m using a transend hi endurance.

have g1w-c for about 4 –5 years ago, have no complaints, works great, they are pretty cheap, 50-60bucks. but it has no gps log, no wifi, no BT.

I watched techmoans videos (he is local to me )
And went with the DDPAI M6 plus it has been used for a year and a half by now and no issues at all, video quality at highest setting in “Blu-ray cinema “ mode (I think it’s calked) is very good. Night images are good and they have updates via the app.

I just bought a Xiaomi dash cam for my dad as he doesn’t have a smart phone and needed something that has buttons and a screen and it gets a good review. After owning a few Xiaomi products I have found them to be a good “bang for the buck “ brand.
I have ear buds, battery banks and 4k action cam which are really good for the money.

I’ve got several dash cams for sale. This one looks a lot like the o e you picked as a favorite. It used to sell for $148.00 on sale for $69.00 I will sell it for $59.00 it is BNIB. I’ve got several more I can show you if you like,

Dashcam

Thanks for the offer, but I am probably going to get a Viofo A119S / A119S V2.

Just curious, what didn’t you like about it? Price, features? Don’t know me, etc?

Heck, spring fer some new wheels with built in hi techs… :stuck_out_tongue:

I took Techmoan’s advice and bought three Viofo A119 dash cams last February. My friend bought two. We’re very happy with them.

I went for Transcend’s ‘High Endurance’ cards, but they were hard to find back when I got the cameras. My friend has been running MicroCenter’s house brand without issue.

I spliced a 90° USB connector onto the camera end of the stock cables to tuck them away a bit nicer.

According to Dashcam Camera Reviews and DashCamTalk, The A119 and A119S are the best bang for your buck dash cams, so I have my heart set on them.

Nothing else will do.

If you had a well-priced A119S for sale, and I would probably buy it.

I buy from people I don't know all the time (though I usually look at their feedback on Amazon or eBay.)

No hard feelings.

Good choice. Do make sure to check your footage every now and then. One problem that has popped up was the base seems to loosen up over time on some people’s A119 causing the cam to be susceptible to vibrations and video to blur on less than perfect roads…

A simple fix with a precut foam (free under warranty) or DIY with a few small pieces of adhesive backed Velcro, but something to be aware of.

No problem and certainly no hard feelings, I thought you were really excited about theA119 cam. I’ve got several and haven’t put o e in my vehicle yet. I’m going to Atlanta and back on Monday so I’ll prolly install one this weekend. Never know when you’ll run into trouble and need some evidence to protect yourself.

You want to buy a car recorder, you can choose DAB211, I bought it in the previous time, the video is very high definition.

Just one note about capacitor models.

I have 2, one on the bike and one in the car.
The capacitor will discharge after about 2 weeks of no use and the cameras then lose any time and date setting you may have set. YMMV.

Mine are still going strong after several years in the heat, unfortunately still filming incidents of poor driving.
The car one is easy to reprogram, but the bike one (Innovv C3, 90 degree lens) is a PITA because it needs to be dismounted.

Also the windscreen suction cup will fall off when parked on hot days. Temp in the car can be over 60C/140F.

I had a G1W, battery model, and the same thing happened

Now, I use Viofo A119 with GPS module
When turn on it set time and date from the GPS module
