The NEW Sofirn C8F Triple XP-L W2 w/side e-switch

I would rather have both tail cap and e-switch, so I could use both to change modes, I still have quite a few LD-2 drivers left to use.

The Convoy C8 battery tube and PB switch works/legos with the C8F.

I know that a Convoy SS bezel doesn’t fit on the C8F, spacing differences.

Bummer…dat be some nice bling…

Great review Dale thank you,
You sold me on another light,
I don’t know if anyone has asked you yet since I didn’t read through all the posts but are you going to flash this light to Narsil or thought about it, is it possible .?
Sort of hooked on that UI lately,
Thanks for the wire info as well, I hadn’t heard of the superworm silicone wire before, took a look at Ebay and that looks to be premium wire for sure.
By the way if making a new set of voltage test leads using this 18ga wire what length would you use for your leads,
I’ve read it before but can’t recall where and really need to make a set, I’m thinking it was something around 12-14”…??
I might not have the correct gauge for test leads either ?
Thanks Dale

There’s no Attiny 85 on the driver so, No. But the driver could be changed.

Oh yes that’s right, got it, thanks Mtn. Don…!

I have one of lexels 17mm with Narsil that I haven’t used yet. This might be a good place for it.

Can you confirm this for us? I’m thinking of getting the Convoy C8 SS bezel just for the new C8F. This appears to be the older version of the C8F with the SS bezel installed:

There are 2 types of SS bezel!
Old and new - the old one doesn’t fit, the new one does - at least on the “old” C8F (non-Side-Switch)
As you can see on this image - there is a thin gap between Bezel-End and Case - if it bothers you, you can put in a thin O-Ring or use a thinner O-Ring for the Glass.

Ok. Thanks for clearing things.

When I tried the SS bezel on mine (older non-eswitch version) the inside shelf to lens depth was wrong and the lens was loose. Mixing between the companies seemed wrong so I didn’t bother trying to make it work. I can, of course, since I have the lathe, just decided not to.

In a similar way I chose to keep the original driver save for swapping out the MOSFET.

Just finished the C8F with the D4 style ramping UI. Tried the lighted E-SW with OTC and got wonky double flash and it would only ramp sometimes.
Took out the OTC and it is fine now. I do need to change the resistors to get my white LEDs brighter. Will post back when its completely finished.

Here is the lighted E-SW. Works well, no apparent issues to the D4 UI with OTC removed.
SW Leds are still too bright IMO. And dust in reflector. Need to dim it a bit and a proper cleaning. It was open on the bench too long.

Lookin’ good, vw!

Thanks gchart, sent ya PM. :person_facepalming:

Made a big jump in resistance, from 7.5K to 22K to dim them down. Thanks for the advice gchart, save a ton of hassle.

New 22K

Old 7.5K

C8 with 3 LEDs and 18650? It’s not fashionable anymore …

16 LEDs and 26650! 48000 lumens (fire extinguisher included). Now Available! Only from 17 dollars! You will not be disappointed!

By the way, C8 with 26650 looks very nice. When will Sofirn please us with this version?

26650? Not for me, thank you. The 18650 tube is a more pleasing fit in my hand than a 26650 tube.

You do realize, of course, that those XM-L emitters are not going to make 48,000 lumens, 16 or otherwise? And if you decide to modify it with newer emitters, the cost will be prohibitive.

The C8 is loved for it’s compact size and modability, Sofirn is keeping it real in this regard and giving us a very nice light. Imposters can try, but good luck getting what you think your’e getting.

Edit: I even see a claim of a Stainless Steel shell, which would be a high resistance and would actually stop the light from making much headway towards the ludicrous output claims. 3800 lumens from 3 XM-L T6 LED’s? HA! Remember the Lixada 3800 that claimed 3800 lumens from 3 XM-L emitters? Can’t hit 3800 in it with new XM-L2’s and an FET direct drive driver. Interesting light, but it doesn’t even draw my interest and everybody knows I’m a dyed in the wool flashaholic….
