Emisar D1 / D1S review

Yeah, i think you’re right.
I’ll just wait for his reply then.
Or should i return the package a.s.a.p.?

Jerommel, I sent Neal a message about your situation. Hopefully he’ll get to it quickly when he returns.

True, but i talk from a personal experience

There isnt a Sofirn dualswitch model afaik

Sofirn SP31(Thorfire TK15S) has side switch for mode changes and forward click tail switch. If this was available with Anduril it could be an amazing light.

Thats more or less a S2 look like torch m8, cmon ,…Tk15S…be serious pls, we are talking about the 45-50mm reflector range

Yeah it’s mine, I did order the 4000K tint D1S. Just the weird combo of the grey D1S and the 2 green 18350 tubes alone.

There was also a bit of a mix up in ordering the Aspire as well. I ordered 4 from his site, but he says I only have 2 left, do I want Keeppowers? No, So he refunds me all 4 cells, but I wanted the Aspire, so I send another paypal to cover the 2 Aspire he has remaining, since he says the cells need to be inside the tubes to be shipped. No idea why they were not in the package.

A quick gander at the USPS site to ship to China is in the mid $30 range. All my orders from China take around 3 weeks to get to me, the Emisar’s took six weeks. Neal’s tied up till early January, we come to a solution, I send it back, he receives it, then sends me the correct order, and in my mind I am looking at sometime in late March to get delivery for an order I place in early November. I decided to leave well enough alone. I was not planning to email Neal regarding this. Kinda wanted him focused on GT GT GT

Last night I bought several drivers from Richard during his xmas sale and included 2 green 18350 tubes, unfortunately they had no stock on the Emisar items in early November. all in all everything is good with me :+1:

What centering are you using?

I’m just reading this now:

Sorry i didn’t look here earlier, but it probably doesn’t matter anymore.
So it was your order afterall…
I’ll PM you, because the green 18350 tubes are small enough to send to USA for $3 and change.

Meanwhile i have sold the D1S to a Dutch member here.
Neal promised to refund me $10 to cover the shipping.
I hope he won’t forget, because i would hate to have to open a Paypal dispute…

Thanks TK. :+1:

Anyone home?? I just thought it was odd that this thread has been inactive for so long….
Has everyone been enjoying their D1s’s?
Am I the only one that received a defective D1s from Neal?
I still have not got a response concerning mine purchased on Nov 4th…. except for the one “please send a video”
I filed a Paypal dispute and escalated it to a claim a couple of weeks ago but still no response from Neal or Paypal.
I dont know enough to trouble shoot but took the head off the light, not really knowing what to look for, and fiddled
with the wires a bit and it seems better than it was but it still is unpredictable and at times seems haunted.
It even came on by itself in the middle of the night when I thought I had switched it off…… but apparently not……
That’s scary! I have since removed the battery…… if it comes on now Im gonna bury it.
Just hoping to hear from Paypal soon. :weary:

Boy Coscar, that’s too bad about yours. Hopefully you’ll get it resolved. I feel for you as I just received a new Thrunite TC20 that has an ugly greenish beam and I’m very disappointed and will be returning it.

As for the D1, I’m more than happy with mine. I have the CW version, as I’m a big CW fan boy, and it is outstanding in every way. It’s one of the best, if not THE best light I’ve ever received. Quality throughout and the most pleasing CW beam I’ve ever seen. At $40.00, it’s a true bargain, at least the example I received is.

I also put a Butler Creek Blizzard flip open scope cover with diffuser film installed on the light and now I have a wonderful area light and with the flick of a thumb, a wonderful thrower. Such a winner and so small and handy.

Again, so sorry yours isn’t a winner like mine and hope things work out for you and also me with the TC20.

Everything is copasetic ………. when I feel deprived I just grab the D4

Hell yes. I enjoy my d1s. Its one of my top mini thrower light… the xhp 35 hi is very intense and kind of like a laser beam… on top of that, its only cost $40.

I had my D1S about a week over Christmas before I travelled abroad for work, the D4 came with me as my general purpose/EDC light.

Hopefully I will get a chance to stretch the D1S legs when I get back home!

I wish there was a high CRI version of the D1, I would order it in an instant!

Waiting for a D1 and a D1S to arrive soon. I have 2 D4’s already.
These are great little lights.

It uses XP-L HI, not XHP35 HI. They do look pretty similar though.

XP-L HI is flat with a particular pattern of dots, with a bump 90 degrees from the lead wires:

XHP35 HI is larger and more splotchy, with a bump 180 degrees from the lead wires:

It’s mostly distinguishable by the crosshair pattern between its four individual dies, which is more easily seen while the emitter is on:

I shine lights through an old projector lens to get a better magnified view of the emitters. It’s a lot easier than trying to look directly at the emitter while it’s on.

Great detailed review. Thank you!

Got my Emisar D1S today in grey and a Nitecore SRT9 and a blue D4 is in transit to me too so the Emisar family is almost complete.

Hey tk, you are right… it is xpl hi… those factory dedome leds look very similar and I got confused. Lol

I don’t know if this has been discussed yet but I would love to see a D1S with 20700 battery tube, which makes sense for this light, and maybe 22mm driver room so we can mod it with XHP35 HI and 1.5A boost driver from KD.
