Review Sofirn SP10B + 3 lights Giveaway - Winners Posted

I was wrong, there are non-rechargeable 14500 batteries. :person_facepalming:

Now, I got it!! (just saw there are non-rechargeable 14500s)
But unfortunately, I am not able to help on this as I don’t have experience with those :zipper_mouth_face:
Good luck with your search  I hope someone here can help you better!! :+1:

> thanks MascaratumB, appreciate you trying to help, warm regards !

Congrats to Dusty and legopacific. Your lights are going out in Thursday’s mail. Tracy Wan from Sofirn is taking care of mustig through Amazon.uk.

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays all. Be safe :+1:

Cheers,

14500 is a size (14mm×50mm), so I get ya. People generally associate “14500” with Li-ion cells, hence the confusion.

Try Energizer Lithium? No idea how they fare in summer heat or winter cold in an unprotected environment, though.

Or, get a cheap charger (eg, LK Lii-100B) and be able to recharge eneloops.

thanks Lightbringer, yes, probably what i will end up doing (getting a commercial brand like Energizer 14500s ..pick up a 4 pack or some such), i just figured there would be a few here who might have a experience using the commercial "one-use" disposable 14500s in this SP10B ...and that they could impart some wisdom on the best ones around. thanks again, appreciated.

Congrats to all winners.
Thanks, RobertB and Sofirn.

Well, first off, you might want to refer to them as plain ol’ AAs. Ask a salesdrone for 14500s and you’ll likely get a blank stare.

And to be clear, I’m specifically referring to Energizer Lithium, not their generic alkaleaks. I’ve had the lousiest experiences with Enerleakers and Duraleak cells. One just destroyed my Orcatorch, and after drilling it out, I have to clean all the light’s innards just to get it to light up again, as the head is covered in “glue” that leaked out.

I absolutely would not would not would not ever ever ever keep alkaleaks in any light that’s going to be left unattended for more than a few days, tops. Not even my bobofett light which is already beat to Hell.

So far, though, I’ve had good experiences with Rayovac cells, and amazingly, Rat Shack’s Enercells. Of the latter, I just unearthed 2 huge 40-pax of AAs, and not a single leak, AND they’re pretty much fully juiced, powering my TK4A.

In a car, do not do not do not ever ever ever keep any cells in the light. Keep them separate, say, taped to the light in a plastic bag. This way, if they leak, grow fur, develop language skills, whatever, it’ll be in the bag and not in the light itself.

There are a bunch of those 14500 non rechargeables on Amazon. Expensive as all get out, but they are there. There are also Tadiran Lithium Thionyl Chloride cells too.

thanks guys ! yes agreed, they are listed on Amazon & ebay for ridiculous prices frankly. actually i was checking on Battery Junction ( https://www.batteryjunction.com/14500-category.html ) to get a better sense of things (their prices are ridiculous too actually), now just trying to figure out which might possibly be a good bet for performance and reliability and possibly go from there. not really seeing any of the more established-common-popular manufacturers (like Energizer for instance) offering packaged "one use" 14500 batteries retail ....so ...maybe i will cross-check some things and see if i can possibly find something that will work. thanks Lightbringer and RobertB, your advice and input is much appreciated and i will take it all to heart !

Congrats to all winners. And thanks very much for RobertB. :+1:

The giveaway of mustig has shipped. Hope you guys can receive the item before Christmas and will like it.

Merry Christmas

Follow these simple AA rules, and you will be OK:

  1. Keep it away from bright light,
  2. Don’t get any water on it, and
  3. Never, never ever feed it after midnight.

Congrats to the lucky 3…

Congratulations to you winners :+1:
Thanks RobertB, and Sorfin

If your going to keep this in your car go with the Energizer Lithium AA’s . They wont leak , and remained charged for years.
AA’s fit this light

thanks Paul, appreciate the recommendation and advice. frankly the reason i was planning to run the 14500s was for the extra power ...but i just need to locate the right "one time use" 14500 batteries than i will be set ..for now the hunt continues :) thanks again !

Congratulations!
And thanks for the GAW.

Received my Red SP10b today :+1: I like the UI, and happy to see it has memory. Even though the 4 click electronic lockout, is kind of finicky. If the button is pressed while in lockout, it gives 2 blinks. Kind of a reminder in case you forget. Nice little light. Only thing I can think of to make it more useful to me personally, would be a reversible clip.

Thanks again RobertB, and Sofirn

Merry Christmas

Glad you like it Dusty. Fun little light for sure! Whole lot easier to give the tail cap a slight twist to lock it out. It still retains memory.

I added a stainless steel polished washer to mine to further insure against accidental turn on . A tiny bit of Goop holds it fine around the switch . Looks like it belongs there.

Just in time for X-mas, Santa (the USPS driver) delivered a Sofirn SP10B in the mail today, courtesy of RobertB. I am really liking this little light, especially the metal switch and 2 tap to high. Thanks for running the giveaway.

You’re quite welcome, Merry Christmas!
