Did I get ripped off by a BLF'er?

Just can't find the PayPal clause at the moment but if the sellers account contains no funds, you can win all the disputes you want and you will not receive a refund.

PayPal doesn't care about you and will only refund if the seller has money in his account, they're not going to reach into their billions to help you out.

I've been ripped of by unscrupulous sellers in the past.

Not to say the seller in question falls into this catorgry.

+ 1

but...

I have received $ from people when I knew I would be out of town until Xxx date, and that said item will ship as soon as I get back. As a buyer I try to get a contact # if I come across the same thing, just for piece of mind. I really hope this gets worked out between you guys, and also that nothing bad has happened to the seller.

Yes of course, communication is always the best and can solve almost any issue.

Its when you dont hear from the other guy your mind starts to think the worst.

This is just my personal opinion, but I'd file a dispute right away. IMHO it's not ok to let someone rip you off because the dollar amount is trivial to you--that might perpetuate the idea that this sort of behavior will be tolerated.

Again, it's your money and I'm not trying to tell you what to do, but as far as the hobby is concerned I think it's best to not let this kind of thing go without recourse.

Your part of the KARMA now! PM reference to this thread—no contact—PayPal dispute. Think of your action as protection for the next guy.

That would probably enlight his reflection.

File a civilian pursuit case if anything.

The time needed to do that and the amount of carelessnes is stinky at best.

Hopefully this gets resolved. Give him the benefit of the doubt for now like you said but if still nothing -- release the Kraken! I mean file a paypal dispute.

Holy Shit. I was just signing in to post a thread about the exact same thing! I was supposed to get two of those Balder SE-1's by trading him my TR-1200 w/ DX XML Drop-in (and TWO 18650 flames) and an Ultraok 18650 Zoomie.

Details.

1/11 First contact via text NUMBER 918-575-5109

He agreed to trade me his lights for mine straight up, we both pay our own shipping.

HIS SHIPPING ADDRESS

Jonathon Hatfield

710 West Taft Street

Westville, OK 74965

1/12 I sent the package to the above address USPS.

1/16 I checked up on him, asking if my light arrived to him alright and how he liked them, he replied and said his lights were sent out this day USPS

1/17 He received my lights and had the nuts to send me a text message complaining about the order of brightness and mode memory on the DX XML drop in for the TR-1200. HAHA

1/30 I returned home from a 10 day business trip and I had some packages in from the great land of China but none from Reflection. I sent him a stern and concerned text, while keeping my cool and asking what the deal was. I requested he called me. I called him, and left a voicemail.

1/31 I called again and left a voicemail

2/2 Another Text and call

2/3 I sent another text, still not totally blowing up. I told him I was traveling from Memphis to OKC, driving within an hour or so from his house. I told him I was going to stop by and grab my lights.

From my dealings with him, he was very nice and knows flashlights, asking all the right questions. Surely he ran into some type of emergency that left him without communication, or was severely injured in a car accident of some sort, not just screwing over everyone in sight for the hell of it . Yea right, he's on BLF avoiding everyone!

I had probably $110 in all that stuff I sent him from buying it all new, but I didn't want any of it, that's why I wanted it gone. I could not care less about the value of the crap, I would have given it away to anyone in the hobby that deserved it, but getting F@#$%# out of it over the internet from a fellow BLF'er??? Come on.

Oh no. This is not looking good. I don't care how busy a person is. If you say you will do something (like post a flashlight) do it. No excuses!

I am fairly new here so not sure how the moderators work, but can this guy be banned along with the IP address? I don't want to sound like draconian, but this is not on! He was on, probably reading this laughing. Maybe a PM from a moderator first.

Sorry you got scammed, ZW and Troop, it's simply not on. But I agree Karma is a wonderful thing!

Marc.

Give him the benefit of the doubt...

but this is very telling. Have you pm'd him? If so then he read it and chooses not to reply. Not good.

i really hope it gets worked out and there is a reasonable explanation, even if it is a poor excuse like just being lazy and not following through. the worst thing is these cases is when you get no response, because of course you then think the worst. even if someone were just procrastinating and being lazy, and they admitted to it, you might not be happy but you'd understand what was going on, and they then would hopefully do the right thing. again, stuff like this does not sit well with me, certainly does not belong with the great people here, and i sincerely hope it gets resolved. if it does not, this may be a very small consolation, but i'm sure he will be banned from the forum.

i asked him about his whereabouts and he said that he's from Nigeria. hmm. my mistake in the text, sorry!

Unfortunately this kind of stuff does happen everywhere. I only trade/sell/buy from members I know are reputable but every reputation has to have a start before it can build. This guy has destroyed his completely. He is obviously alive enough to log into the board, therefore he is able to at least contact the parties involved and explain himself. I'd have run out of patience with him at this point. Hopefully an intervention message from Mr. Admin will be sent and he will respond. If not he should be banned for life and unfortunate lessons learned for those involved with this deal. Good luck, guys!

Sorry to hear that Troop, it does not matter whether you can afford it or not it's the principal. He MAY have ripped you off but give him the benefit of the doubt.

But be ready to push the PAYPAL button. Good Luck.

Lets just hope that he has got other reasons for not sending it to you.

P.S If you can spare me $100 for my JETBEAM RTT0 XML

Troop, Is you paypal link to a visa or credit card? because if it is you can claim that way.

The sad thing is this guy has not done this because he is short of cash, none of us here are that short, or we wouldn't be here buying torches. He has done it for the hell of it. Christ torches are cheap nowadays, my 4 year old has an LED torch. It's just a shame that his reputation is lost! And the worst thing is not the money, It's the thought that a fellow member would do something like this to another member.

Marc.

My thoughts exactly.

And I don't understand what "wrong" can a TR-1200 have so that he is pissed. He wants no mode memory and a different output sequence? You need to buy premium brand lights for that.....or some documented flashlights like some instances of the DRY driver, or DQG II (both of which aren't cheap in its class also).

Why do spammers lose their BLF accounts and trolls don't?

This, not the money. I like this community here at BLF, but it is the Internet, so live and learn.

We should have seen the obvious clue: why would a member buy 4 identical lights and not want to keep ANY of them. Usually you buy one and like it so much you buy more, but you would not get rid of all of them.
