Q8, PMS SEND TO THOSE WITH ISSUES BLF soda can light

I also received a new complete switch PCB and tool for bezel removal in about the same time frame as MtnDon

Tom E can I get an update on my Q8. I hate to post here but you said the modifications were finished on 11/13-2017 and you just had testing to do. I have sent pms and emails but no response. I figured something got lost in the shuffle but I thought I should say something before it is lost permanently. My q8 was the one sent already in the grenade pouch and original q8 box. You received it on 11/11/17 via USPS padded envelope. I hope everything is well with you.

We had some delays , so i received the switch “kit” today .

(The little note has the mapping of the wires)

Yep… that is what I got. About the same time frame as MtnDon & shirnask.

I am still loving this light, its become my favorite. No issues whatsoever.
Lights things up like crazy! Been showing it to couple people and they are super impressed

How’s your Chinese? After some messing aroung with a DMM and cell, I figured out that:

red with black mark : ground (G)
black : indicator LED+ (L)
red : switch (S)

Also, my board was a little loose in the switch hole so I had to hold it from the inside while screwing the switch bezel back on.

Hey Joey…… You got TomE to do mods to you Q8?? That is cool…. I bet that thing is screaming now!! :+1:

I see you said he finished it 13 November & was gonna do some testing on it. What were the test results?? Did you get a lot of extra lumens??

What did he do to it?? Screws, spring bypasses, anything else??

I assume you have it back by now…. I didn’t notice the date on your post. Anyway… I hope you do & are enjoying it.

Have a MERRY CHRISTMAS!!

Hello!

After buying the Convoy S2+ as my first Li-Ion flashlight and than immediately upgrading to the BLF A6 I ordered the BLF Q8 today at Banggood.

During the long thread I lost track about production batches and issues.
Will I receive a light of the 4th batch? Are there some issues to expect?

But for now I’ll have to wait some weeks for the shipment to arrive.

Welcome to BLF!! You should have no real issues to expect on your Q8…. just enjoy.

I bet I will. Already ordered 4 Sony VTC6

I have a switch led issue also (first batch).
How can I proceed to solve the issue?

I have not followed the thread after receiving the light.

Did you report it here… before now??
What is the issue & when did you notice it?

Let me guess, you ordered flat top versions of the VTC6? If so, you will need to add solder blobs to the positive posts to raise them higher than the wrapper.

.

Yes you are right, but adding a small solder blob is not so problematic.
Also I have seen here that the Samsung with a solder top seem to give better contact than the button top Samsung cells.

Hello

I’m using samsung 30Q flat top cells in my Q8, the Q8 is working without problems. Can I continue to use flat top cells or do I have switch to button top cells?

Thank you.

If it were me, for various reasons that have been discussed already; I would either solder boob the 30 Q’s or switch to button tops.

What can happen? Which button top cells are the best for Q8?
Thank you.

Unequal discharge because one or more cells is not making contact.

30 Q’s are fine. If they are flattop… just solder boob them.

Teacher is 100 percent correct on the battery issues. It can be a little difficult to see since all of the q8 batteries are in parallel. In fact the flashlight will work with only one battery. The problem is it just won’t be as bright and it won’t have much run time. I suspect that people who are running flattop batteries in the q8 would be able to see that some of their batteries are not making contact or at least not much contact, after all they just need one to make contact to turn on the light. If you have a good charger it would be obvious that some aren’t connecting if their charge level is full while others of the group are needing charging. Safest bet is to solder a blob on the positive post if you can solder, if you can’t solder then simply buy quality high drain button top batteries. Cheers

WHILE I AM AT IT: TOM E PLEASE CHECK YOUR PM’S, OR SEND ONE TO ME ABOUT MY Q8 MOD STATUS.
