[PART 1] Official BLF GT Group Buy thread. Group buy officially closed! Lights shipping.

Not exactly; I have a tracking number. I’ve posted this at least twice. I received a notification from Neal that my light (I ordered cells) shipped on the 28th. Its somewhere between Boston and my AO (Area of Operation) (I assume it’s in Augusta [30 miles away] but hasn’t gone through a scanner yet) and is scheduled to be delivered on Tuesday.

I suspect, but I have no proof, that folks in the USA who ordered their lights with cells are being used for “filler” on pallets. That would explain why I have my tracking number. I think I was early on the paid list in the USA and wanting cells (maybe first?). It would make sense to me that yes, they would fill a pallet, but it would also make sense that identical packages with the same weight and destination would be processed at the same time. I assume mine was just “filler” and a one off. But now they know what that order weighs and the rest will follow smoothly. At least that’s how I’d do it if I was shipping what they are. I’d make it easy on myself and clump similar orders/weights/destinations together. But I have no inside information.

Let’s look at it logically… to the USA they have packages w/o cells and packages with cells. Two weights. Processing them as a group is easy. Processing them as individuals adds complexity. How would you do it as a shipper? I think I fell through a crack to fill a need on their part with my oddball order (for that pallet).

Apologies to the folks in other countries, but the fact is that the USA is a huge market for the Chinese and if one is filling a pallet Tano Tuva just doesn’t require a pallet. Order more lights from your country (or increase the population) and you’d get your own pallet. Don’t blame us. It makes sense for Neal to fill the most orders as easily as he can first, then take the time to fill orders that require individual attention. It’s the way you’d also do it if you were in his shoes. It greatly reduces the amount of complaints that are time related by taking care of the biggest market first. Like it or not, he did it correctly from a business standpoint and to reduce the number of inquiries.

Hey! I also ordered batteries with my light but so far I have not heard anything regarding shipment yet

I want my light too!

No, everyone that recieved the tracking info on the 27th has a light from that first shipment. They started showing up on the 29th. So yours is on the way.

Okay, I probably skipped past the part were you said you ordered batteries.

I think your the only person to get a tracking number who has ordered batteries. I assume it’s from that first order, from the 23rd, though. Maybe they messed up and left out the batteries? I’m curious to find out. Let us know when you receive it.

BrianK, I think our lights are in Boston from what I can tell. Mine was supposed to be here yesterday, but now I have to wait until Tuesday… Hopefully Tuesday…

Jason, I think my order was a pallet filler since I was possibly the first to pay who wanted cells from the USA. Or they didn’t include the cells. Both are possibilities.

Tuesday will tell the tale. I hope it’s the first and not the latter. I absolutely hate trying to make things right but I have cells for myself, but this light and cells is for my brother and I’ll wait for the 2nd light.

Edit: Pulsar, tracking tells me that mine was forwarded to “me” a day or so ago. I just think they didn’t get it through a scanner yet. Heck, even if they take secondary roads it doesn’t take all of that time to get to the DHL building in Augusta. I think they gave the folks who work there the holiday weekend off. :) The Augusta “hub” isn’t much. It’s just a hole in the wall and not much else. Maybe one van to handle the “load”. I bet they don’t have more than a handful of employees at best up here; I suspect far fewer employees. I’ve been there and there is no answer when one pushes the door bell during business hours. :) Welcome to Maine.

I have no idea why the text above is struck out. That was not my intention but an artifact of the software.

It’ll all work out in time, I have no doubt.

The forum software reads the “-” as a code to add the strikeout line to any words between it.

No one is sending out status information. That is why you have not recieved it.

There is a paid/shipping list (a bit outdated), but it shows you are on it and that your order is correct. Now everyone just waits until their light is shipped. Once your light ships, THEN you will get a shipping notice.

So far we have only gotten a couple hundred shipping notices and that was for the usa, with no batteries. There are many more shipments to be sent.

please add me to the list x2

I see you at #1192 on the Millers list.
Coyotehawk will add you to his sign up list for a second light. You’ll see your name when he does the next update. It will be sometime early next month when you are emailed with the details of where to go and how to order.

If you plan to buy batteries, please sign up for them in that link I have. This let’s the guys know how many sets they need to keep on hand.

Of course, everybody knows how well the GT throws at long distances. What impresses me is how well it throws at closer distances like 300-400 yards while it is at only 30-50% estimated power. Even in the 15-25% power range it still throws a relative bright beam much farther than you would think. At least that is how I see it with snow falling and temps just about 0º F with a nearly full moon and 2 feet of snow. All of that bright white affects it but it still looks good at closer distances I will use it for more often. At full power in this situation it seems like overkill and you lose what little night vision you have.

I’d like to purchase 2 GT torches please

Mack, you are already listed for 2 lights. It will be sometime early next month when you are emailed with the details of where to go and how to order.

Its your Smiley’s. Just use the normal : and ). Words surrounded by “dash” and “dash, space ” apparently indicate strikethrough.

I noticed earlier that bold is surrounded by asterisks “*”

Surely there are more but I’ll let someone else who actually knows the proper formats answer this.

Edit: I just saw Jason beat me to it. Hey Jason, do you know any other formats like italics or underscore?

What about the humidity there, was it high?

Please add me to the list for a GT.

Cheers

I made a separate purchase for the batteries right before the Giggles shipped so I guess I didn’t make it in time, should I just refund the batteries then?

I can remember the bold, but I usually have to check the others. You can simply highlight a word then click the button to alter it. Here are samples.

bold
italics
underline
strike through
