[PART 1] Official BLF GT Group Buy thread. Group buy officially closed! Lights shipping.

Happy new year everybody
Thank you for hardworking of the BLF GT team and everyone that makes this project come true
I hope next year we can make something even BIGGER than this, maybe BLF GF( blf giga flood) that outthrow the brightest commercial flashlight

UPDATES: It appears that the first couple of shipments are going out by region instead of the exact order in which we paid for cost reasons. Initial quality has been fantastic.

The first shipment of lights (168 total) shipped on Dec 23. This was a pallet going to the USA from the first 576th person on the paid list that did not include batteries. Tracking numbers went out on Dec 27 and lights started arriving to customers on Dec 29th.

There should be a European order going out in January.

The next group to purchase lights (#1000 and up on the list) will get their emails mid January instead of early January in order to let Neal get caught up with current orders.

TA

I just found them, silly me!!!

Whew! Had me going there for a minute! It was stated previously that the images taken shining the GT on the radio tower in Pennsylvania were in 0º weather with 90% humidity. That really stumped me, as I thought water in the air should be frozen at that temperature. Sure enough, in zero degree weather the air’s capacity to hold moisture is 10% or lower.

So, the truthful answer to the question of humidity interfering with the GT’s beam in those shots should be that the air had snow in it or was less than 10% humidity.

Edit: It should be declared that I know squat about 0º air temps. I’ve ridden my 750 to work in 12º weather before and worked outdoors, but that was a very rare situation here. Thus my confusion about humidity and zero degree temps. Thanks for bearing with me…
Oh, and the chart I posted is based on Celsius, so it would need a –17.7 degree C rating to equal a zero here in the States.

I don’t think CPF does cooperative projects like this as they are too busy squabbling with each other or Greta!

They also don’t like us doing them either. Everytime we have tried to share it over there the thread is locked inside a few hours even though it gets a great response over there.

Makes us the lucky ones, right? BLF rocks!

Why is it that the CPF holds no attraction for me?

Trying to charge 16 batteries with one four bay charger before dark, the struggle is real !

For the record, I removed the head of my GT and de-soldered the negative lead from the board, soldered in an 18GA loop so I could test actual emitter amperage. At the top of the ramp it is getting 1.93A, by double clicking to Turbo it is getting 2.45A.

My light box shows 2049 lumens. I do not know the actual binning of the emitter I swapped in, but I do intend to buy a replacement of known binning.

Cool chart DB. I’ll likely spend this afternoon googling trying to understand it.

Yes, the XL seems too tight/snug fit to me.

Somewhat uncomfortable to put and remove continually...
But it could also be a matter of preference.

Amazon run out of stock of both sizes, so I purchased at B&H.

- This is the LINK for the XL size (in stock):

- And this for the XXL size (in stock):
https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/221937-REG/OP_TECH_USA_8001272_Hood_Hat_XX_Large.html

I'll buy the XL too at B&H, so I'll have both sizes (already bought the XXL that I posted before) and see what's better for me.

It's really inexpensive and gives GREAT PROTECTION.

Wouldn't like to see any scratches on the huge front lens!

I’ve been wanting to do some distance testing with it since our humidity is totally absent right now. Thursday night it was –25°F, Friday it was –20, last night still below 0. The problem is finding a place to test it in rural Maine. It should stay dry for all of next week too.

I am really interested in your opinion once you have both sizes and can try them both on the BLF GT.

Please post your findings.

I95 is about all I can think of LOL. Power lines could be a good spot

Edit: I was really hoping to get mine friday. Would have been awesome to test it out in that snow
