[PART 1] Official BLF GT Group Buy thread. Group buy officially closed! Lights shipping.

I don’t think CPF does cooperative projects like this as they are too busy squabbling with each other or Greta!

They also don’t like us doing them either. Everytime we have tried to share it over there the thread is locked inside a few hours even though it gets a great response over there.

Makes us the lucky ones, right? BLF rocks!

Why is it that the CPF holds no attraction for me?

Trying to charge 16 batteries with one four bay charger before dark, the struggle is real !

For the record, I removed the head of my GT and de-soldered the negative lead from the board, soldered in an 18GA loop so I could test actual emitter amperage. At the top of the ramp it is getting 1.93A, by double clicking to Turbo it is getting 2.45A.

My light box shows 2049 lumens. I do not know the actual binning of the emitter I swapped in, but I do intend to buy a replacement of known binning.

Cool chart DB. I’ll likely spend this afternoon googling trying to understand it.

Yes, the XL seems too tight/snug fit to me.

Somewhat uncomfortable to put and remove continually...
But it could also be a matter of preference.

Amazon run out of stock of both sizes, so I purchased at B&H.

- This is the LINK for the XL size (in stock):

- And this for the XXL size (in stock):

I'll buy the XL too at B&H, so I'll have both sizes (already bought the XXL that I posted before) and see what's better for me.

It's really inexpensive and gives GREAT PROTECTION.

Wouldn't like to see any scratches on the huge front lens!

I’ve been wanting to do some distance testing with it since our humidity is totally absent right now. Thursday night it was –25°F, Friday it was –20, last night still below 0. The problem is finding a place to test it in rural Maine. It should stay dry for all of next week too.

I am really interested in your opinion once you have both sizes and can try them both on the BLF GT.

Please post your findings.

I95 is about all I can think of LOL. Power lines could be a good spot

Edit: I was really hoping to get mine friday. Would have been awesome to test it out in that snow

Does the entire head fit inside the light box?

Welcome 18000bph! :+1: Come on in, the waters fine :stuck_out_tongue:

I’ve been giving this some thought. A few miles away there is a straight road that runs between two huge cornfields. There are buildings at the end of it. But I never “clocked” the distance. I just checked Google maps and it’s over a mile long.

The light box fitment is not ideal, my opening is 4.25” so the GT actually mates up to the light box. This moves the lens back away from the shelf a light normally sits on. Shouldn’t make much difference to a long distance thrower. I can check my DBC-06.7 build and see if the numbers are different at the same position relative to the box.

–25ºF? Insane! Air should be nice and clear, I use Google Earth to locate a clear space, when I tested the TN42 I found an area across our lake that worked well. We have room on a couple of rural roads nearby as well, will probably use the roads for this light as it’s a lot closer and easier to navigate, I had to leave my wife on one side of the lake with the video camera and tripod and find my way around to a boat loading ramp on the other side, didn’t like leaving her over there. She was at a Marina, about 70 yds from the lighted parking area, but still. On that occasion I cleared it first with the local Law Enforcement, just so they’d know if they got a call…. they’d already know what was going on. Also told them I planned to “sight it in” using a laser, so it was all on the up and up.

I have a double clamp that I use for this, clamps on my main vertical of the tripod just under the camera mount, then the second clamp holds the light. Figured if I clamped a laser in then set up the tripod so the laser was on target across the lake, removing the laser and replacing it with the light would also have the light zero’d in on the 8 1/2 x 11 sheet of paper that was the target. Worked pretty nicely.

(to clarify, I had 2 tripods with my wife… the target on one and her camera on another. Then I used a 3rd tripod at my end. )

+1 for me. Looks awesome guys.

Dale, yes, –25 without the windchill figured in. We’ve had colder in years past. I’ve seen it below –30.

My brother had a good idea, throw a bunch of water into the air to see if I could make snow. I bet I could if I put the water into an agricultural sprayer. But enough of that; now it’s back to our regular scheduled programming.

I heard at –25 like we have been seeing, if you boil water, the steam will turn to snow

I have seen our moist air from inside spill outdoors and ice crystals form out of that.

That driver is so nicely done, really looks premium
