[PART 1] Official BLF GT Group Buy thread. Group buy officially closed! Lights shipping.

You will be added. It will be mid January when you get the email with the purchase instructions.

Maybe flux residue burning up?

Let’s hope so…

Good to know though, i will hit the turbo first without the head on.
…but that will be in early Februari i guess… :person_facepalming:

O, Happy 2018 y’all.

Hmm , what are you going to do kwb ? :innocent:

That’s scarey! Happy you caught it. Did you just happen to be looking or were you specifically looking for this?

What did you use to get the head off and how difficult was it?

Looking up a few posts, there appeared to be flux residue on the wire solder points.

Yeah, it’s a little wet under the centering ring plate and top of the MCPCB that has a pretty good scratch across it.

Maybe let Lumintop know to clean it up a little bit…

Later I’ll reflow a XHP35HD E4-1A I de-domed I’m running the other E4-1A in a TN42 and it’s got a really nice neutral white spot, not orangey-yellow :confounded: like the stock HI.

Yep I always look for this problem, I had a few K70’s and I run in the de-domed XHP35HD’s just in case. Just put the head in a vise with plastic jaws, locked onto the flats, and just twisted the head off by hand.

Thanks! What was actually smoking then?

It was coming from around the base of the LED. Obviously flux from the re-flow,It plumed up pretty good for a while, it would have surely smoked up the reflector!

I saw flux residue back from first factory picture of driver and DTP boards, but thought they will clean up…
Ok some alcohol on cotton stick will do the job before first run…
Thanks for sharing Kawi :+1:

Happy New year everyone!
01:07 here

Thank you for the heads up, I probably will do the same… :+1:

Maybe units from hear on out can be cleaned during ass’y if word is gotten back to them?

Please add me to the list for (1) BLF GT

Coyotehawk will add you to his sign up list. You’ll see your name when he does the next update. It will be sometime mid January when you are emailed with the details of where to go and how to order.

Welcome to BLF.

UPDATES: It appears that the first couple of shipments are going out by region instead of the exact order in which we paid for cost reasons. Initial quality has been fantastic.

The first shipment of lights (168 total) shipped on Dec 23. This was a pallet going to the USA from the first 576th person on the paid list that did not include batteries. Tracking numbers went out on Dec 27 and lights started arriving to customers on Dec 29th. DHL shipping was very fast.

There should be a European order going out in January.

The next group to purchase lights (#1000 and up on the list) will get their emails mid January instead of early January in order to let Neal get caught up with current orders.

Hello
How did you print the text on the lamp?

Put me down for 1 too, I’ll sign up for the batteries as well.

Just curious how some folks have received more than one GT. Wasn’t the group buy list set up so that everyone would receive their first before seconds went out?

Yes, but that was only if the lights shipped out right after people paid. Unfortunately, that did not happen.

So only the first 555 got single lights (except for a handful of people that the Miller agreed to to fill up the 555 list. There were not many people signed up back then).

Anyway, the first 555 paid, then the next 556 to 1000 paid. It’s this second set of payments that a lot of folks paid for their 2nd, 3rd or 4th lights.

It was after this that the first batch of lights got shipped. Since Neal had a huge number of lights going to the usa, he just filled up a pallet with as many of the early people that paid. Up to the 576th person that paid, to be more accurate.

It sounds complicated, but I hope I explained it well enough.

Just making sure I am on the list and looking forward to getting one BLF GT!
