[GB ended,discussion only] CRI > 80+ NICHIA 2000K-6500K [E21A/219B/219C/319A/144A/757GT-F1(Optisolis)]

I was thinking of the 219B/C variety, hahaha, sorry. It’s available in the store all right, https://www.virence.com/blank-rwrlr/nvswe21at.

Those E21 Nichias, I understand that dedicated boards are on their way, but I wonder if these LEDs have been used with existing boards? I am really interested in domeless high cri LEDs, the 083b being my grail at the moment.

Yes they have. Scroll up and then click this link to see almost anything you need to know about the development of the boards

Thanks for the reference! I had read that thread thoroughly. Just was wondering if those LEDs had been used in flashlights before. Maybe with the boards used for 119s?

Ah I see. I assumed you asked about existing VirEnce boards. AFAIK, I’ve never seen any flashlights made using this LED as OEM. The only flashlight I knew was Jensen567’s P60. Maybe he’ll be kind enough to share his builds to us here.

And as for the 119 boards, Djozz tested these LEDs with his 119 board. But the gap is too wide for it to work properly. You need 0,2mm gap with E21A/E17A. Nichia E17A/E21A series (April 19th: updated with output tests in the OP)

Even mine is not really a flashlight, just a beam tester. I need a 17mm boost driver to actually run it in a flashlight since I setup the emitters in 2S2P configuration. But this does at least show the quadtrix configuration gives a very nice beam without any donut hole, even just using a simple P60 OP reflector. I haven’t tried SMO but I suspect there would be a donut. I will be building lots more with E21A once I get some more components.

Does not look like a multiple core LED at all. Thanks for sharing, good to know!

E21 has the same footprint as Cree XQ series.
If you can find a XQ board, you can put a E21 on it without any positioning problems.

I see the custom Armyteks listed on the site now. Does this mean the boards are coming in soon?

The boards will be shipped by this week or next week according to the latest factory update. The Armyteks still needs fine tuning especially for correct optics selection and reliable fastening method.

Update 180111:
MCPCB shipped to Indonesia

Great news!

Interesting, thank you!

BTW have you ever seen triple or quad xqe boards?

Try to ask Mitko. I think he use XQE for some of his builds

Update 180118:

The VR16S1 and VR16SP4 MCPCBs are the store

Does the VR16SP4 work with the new cree LED’s? I might need to grab one of those so I can test the new Cree LED’s.

Not a perfect match but should be more than enough due to its excellent thermal properties. I posted the simulated picture of XD16 on VR16SP4 somewhere. With VR16S1 it fits better with full pads coverage

With E21A:

With XD16:

XD16 has bigger pads and wider gaps

(dream) may be 219C sm4070e will be re-stocked… I will buy 3-5 pcs
I have receive and tested 219B sw45k - best universal LED, but for some application of night vision he is slightly “cold”… Wish an 4000-4200 CCT and magenta tint
