[PART 1] Official BLF GT Group Buy thread. Group buy officially closed! Lights shipping.

I think I want something in the 5k lumen range, in the 5000k range. We need to start seeing more mods and beam shots posted… What’s taking so long??? :innocent:

THE GROUP BUY OFFICIALLY CLOSED AT 0822 CST ON 6 JANUARY 2018. POST #14394 WAS THE OFFICIAL WORD FROM TEXAS ACE THAT THE GROUP BUY IS NO LONGER ACTIVE. POST #14392 WAS THE LAST REQUEST OF THE GROUP BUY. IF YOU REQUESTED TO BE PLACED ON THE LIST AFTER THIS TIME YOU MISSED OUT ON THE GROUP BUY.

how is this a reduction?
this is a still shot of that video, so you can more closely compare the 2.
look at all that nasty looking, scattered , white light being wasted off the original.
compare the tree colors between the 2 lights
the cw makes the trees look dead and ghostly, like somebody hit them with a coat of white spray paint, or puked on them maybe :confounded:
then look at the nw version. looks like real trees
less scattered , wasted light coming off the center ball of fire.
both center hotspots look pretty close to intensity to me….

actually looks like snow sticking to the trees on the left, cool white led shot here…horrible for color rendering, for me anyways
looks so un natural

Even though people are dropping out I can’t take a spot?

+3 … It will be.

This one by Dale was amazing too.
An actual beamshot taken ’at the target’ to show how much light is hitting the target.

This is where the rubber hits the road…. for me anyway:slight_smile:

What colour emitter will you choose to put now,5000°Κ,or higher?I ask because I didn’t like myself the tint I saw in the latest video here.

I think they are making a reserve list. And since you made a request I ‘imagine’ you will be put on it in the order your request was initially made…

TA has already said there is no guarantees past 1500 lights. BUT…better to have tried…. than not.
………………………

EDIT ……… See post I have quoted below……… I had missed it.

That is a great attitude. I would have purchased this light if it had a red led or any other color for that matter. I would then put the led and driver in it that I wanted. If after asking here how to do it I thought I would not be able to do it correctly I would pay someone to mod it. There is no other led light that can compete with this light that I know of.

Just the empty shell with the reflector and battery holders is worth more than the group buy cost. It hard for me to understand anyone complaining about the color temperature of this light. Don’t they realize how much work these people doing this group buy designing this light, circuity, reflector, etc. is? It is a huge undertaking and takes a huge amount of time just keeping track of who wants one, who has paid, and much much more.

I do understand someone not liking a certain color temperature but not raising a big stink over it after what these people have done for us to start with. Can you even imagine combined hours of work that has gone into this project?

How much do they think a light of this caliber would have cost if a manufacturer had spent all of that time designing a light like this?

There are lights that sell for 5 to $600 or more that simply can not compete with this light. This is one of those rare situations where something you purchase is actually worth more that what you paid for it. I think this light will be worth more that what we pay years from now.

I hope that the guys and gals that do these special edition projects for us realize that most all of us do appreciate their hard work very much.

Sweet! :+1:

The team is gonna try and get a single list done this weekend and have it at the beginning of this thread.

Very well said 2Grumpy

I’m very thankful just to have a shot at one.
The team is fuckingly amazing and I don’t think
This project could ever be equaled anywhere else.
There’s no I in team guys, not here. Well done.

:+1:

With 1.5+Mcd? Vinh might be the first to come out this light.

I assumed he meant an xhp50.2. More lumen, less throw.

Then maybe most modders have 6v led and mcpcb, so they are ordering 12v version.

I’ll try to say something about with my poor English.
I think that this light will be a toy for many of the buyers, who saw the photos and the videos of the prototypes and decided to buy it.They want to play with it looking the beam like a laser beam, because they can not do the same with laser as it is illegal. So,you have to understand them.

Well, I’m a capitalist. People were fully aware of what they got into, and entered into the agreement willingly. Nobody forced their hand. My appreciation will come in the form of a fair and mutually beneficial money transfer when it’s time, because that’s what I agreed to when I put my name on the list.

Not sure where this picture came from, & really don’t care.

’To me’ …. it is a perfect example of two very crappy extremes.

Not a complaint at all…. just my observation & preference.

Which has exactly NOTHING to do with “not appreciating” all the hard work Team Giggles put into this project.

IT IS GREATLY APPRECIATED BY MOST EVERYONE I THINK…… . :+1:

Just because someone has an opinion or preference does NOT negate appreciation……
.
.
EDIT: …… And yes… I knew it had been changed to 4000K, as well as exactly when it was changed and Why ; because I read & kept up with what was going on.
IF you did not……. that is on you. Whoever you may be.

:+1: x 2

I really don’t know much about the warranty except that if it has any type of defect early on, it will get fixed. This is the area The Miller was going to handle, but he’s not here.

I wouldn’t worry too much about the led being driven too hard. It is on a huge copper DTP mcpcb 45mm in diameter in a 4 pound chunk of aluminum. It can handle a lot of heat. The driver is also over built. It runs at 2.5A @ 12v, but can handle more than double that.
