[PART 1] Official BLF GT Group Buy thread. Group buy officially closed! Lights shipping.

Ok, everyone. No need to go ballistic here.

Yes, it was very rude and completely against the rules to release the link (no matter what he claims, he did NOT have permission to post that anywhere).

Yes, it is causing a lot of extra work for the unpaid team to cancel orders, make new order pages and all the work associated with this.

No, you should not go on a witch hunt. There is only one person that is in the wrong here (well, those that requested and used the link he sent can be argued but a lot of them think there is no problem, so don’t go after them, their orders will be canceled).

Even Thomas does not deserve to be hunted. He may not be on my Christmas card list at this point but what is done is done.

He has already got his GT. So lets just put him behind us and move forward.

malicious, no, maybe not directly.

It could not be clearer in the PM that the link is not to be shared though and that exactly what is happening here, would happen.

Yet he still claimed he had “permission” to post the information. That is what bothers me more then anything.

I figured the link would be shared at some point but also hoped that it would be an innocent mistake that would be easily corrected without all this work of halting the GB. Where the person would simply say, sorry, my bad, and remove any links.

Within a few sec of turn on.

After running about 2 or 3 min.

I’m guessing the permission he keeps referring to is from the FB group… I just don’t believe he understands what he’s actually done here. But yes, your “Do not share this link” certainly should have been enough.

I’m really sorry this incident is going to cause more work for you guys… Y’all have been amazing. Thank you all!

Thanks for the cool IR pics, that is pretty much what we felt by hand, it is nice to see it visualized.

It is amazing how much faster the xhp70.2 heats up when playing with them side by side.

Can’t be more clear than this…

Anyhow, it’s Monday 10:23 AM in China now, whoos lights are they shipping today

Great effort and beamshots.

But I don’t understand why you want to say it is Warm White for stock light although it is Neutral White. You could be misleading newbies on this. Or your stock light has wrong LED in it? But the beamshot doesn’t look like 3000k color temperature to me.

His attitude as seen in the screenshot is quite malicious. Displays dark triad traits.

This personality type also engages in illegal activity of the kind that violates personal rights of other people. But don’t mail the bastard any nasty surprises, including and not limited to human feces. An all out Internet Vendetta is a lame response to someone just being a moron and a loser. Trolls and lame uncles should mostly be ignored. The justice system will get to these individuals and most likely has on several occasions. This… example can not have a clean record.

I will try and explain why you got one light when you paid for 3, 1 with no cells and 2 with cells).

The first shipment was lights with no batteries to usa for people up to 576th (as far as I have determined) on the paid list. So Neal went by paid order until he filled a pallet.

Now you were the 528th person to pay. That means your one light with no batteries got shipped on Dec 27th.

Your other 2 lights (with batteries) did not ship then. When Neal started filling the second pallet he went up to the 740th person who paid. This still includes you. These lights shipped on Jan 3rd.

So they are probably in transit to you right now. I can’t say for sure, but I think so. You can call dhl and ask if they are in route.

I don’t know if they are shipped as one box or two seperate boxes.

You can PM TA about the switch cover. I think they will send you a new, translucent one so the light can be seen.

Lets not go here, no personal attacks. Lets take the high road here.

Stating how disappointed you are that one of the BLF family would break trust like this is one thing but don’t get personal.

Trust me, I know the temptation is there but it will not do any good.

Lets just use this as an example and try to keep this from happening again.

Oh, my point exactly. Just stating it’s not worth it to search revenge on the evil doers.

Was this a typo when you said WW or did you buy a WW emitter and install it?

I thought you were going to compare the stock NW 4000k to the CW.

Ok, I was hoping that was where you were going.

Just wanted to make it clear my stance on the subject before I turn in for the night.

On a 4K monitor it’s just half the width; barely over 30% of the screen space.
Think I prefer the 4000k tint myself. Should have mine tomorrow, so can see for myself how it looks.

How’s about contacting Neal pronto and letting him know what is going on? Seems to me that this should have been thought of a long time ago and that “NO” GT flashlights should ship out “Unless the BLF usernames matched with proof of those users being on the main list!”

I mean it’s really not that complicated to get a PM from Neal or whoever with Lumintop to respond back to their PM’s and prove that your account is genuine! No lights shipped out unless everything matches up!

Am I missing something here?

Thanks Jason! You beat me to asking the same thing!!! :+1:

It looks much less warm in person, like I have said many times, it looks like a small sun. The white balance on those pictures is biased towards CW, which is why the results look like they do.

Pretty sure that DB has said he uses a 5500k or 6000k WB in the past. So it is pretty obvious that 6500k will show up better then 4000k.

A camera really can’t see things like this the way the human eye can. Just keep an open mind and wait to try it yourself before judging.

Out of all the comments I have seen so far, around 60-70% have liked the tint, ~15-20% have been in the “not what I am used to but it might grow on me” camp and the remaining 15-20% have wanted a different tint.

I am perfectly happy with the approval results so far, we knew from the very start we would not please everyone, even if we had got the 3D tint we wanted there would be those wanting both warmer and cooler.

Offering multiple tints would have made this already complicated GB unberablely complicated. I am so glad we did not offer multiple tints, I can just see all the complaints of people getting the wrong tint rolling in now.

That is why we made the light easily moddable.

Don’t like it? Then mod it to what you like.

Personally I still love the stock tint in the real world and even on a white wall. It really does look like a small sun. No green at all as well, which I have had issues with 3D having a Green hue before.

Thomas King “What is wrong with you people that don’t want others to share in you good fortune”

Awww he just wanted to share with other’s, look how old and sad and old he is, maybe he wanted to do one last good thing, you know a bucket list thing, before he croaks?

He was not helping people get on the list. If that was his intention, he should have posted a link to this thread so people can ask to be added to the group buy list.

Instead, he posted the order page and password. Now the people who properly signed up may not get their light.

I have contacted Neal.

You forget how many people have trouble following basic instructions. Having worked with people / sales / online marketplaces for over a decade, I am surprised with how many people on BLF got everything right, way more then I expected.

That said there was still a very high percentage of orders with incorrect info or no follow up contact information and it would be completely impractical to match up every single order to a valid user name on the list.

So we went with a much more manageable method of looking up the suspicious orders that came in bursts or with multiple lights.

We caught several people trying to sneak in this way (and banned them from future orders) but I am sure some slipped through as well.

The time to result ratio is simply not in favor of doing more then that.

I was doing some crude math earlier, which I now regret.

Combined the team has EASILY spent WELL over 3000 man hours on this project.

Most of our time is worth a fair amount but lets just say it was worth a mere $15/ hour.

That is $45,000 worth of work donated to this project.

At a more reasonable (but still less then what a lot of the team is used to) hourly wage it would be over $125,000 worth of time donated to this project already.

What do we have to show for it?

A few $115 flashlights.

Now don’t get me wrong, we are not complaining, we signed up for this but it does hopefully put things into perspective.

There is a limit to how much time we can put into this project though and when this starts taking time away from our families or real work that puts food on the table, then we have reached that limit.

Now we will keep this project going and see it through to the end, not to worry about that but hopefully you can understand why we simply can’t start adding massive amounts of extra work to this project.

Already the link spilling this time is adding a lot of extra work as it is.

The goal is to make it through the next payment PM without it leaking for ~2 weeks and then getting the rest of the 1500 lights shipped out.
