Costco Eneloops

Isn’t $30 a normal price for those eneloops? I think it’s a sale more when that kit is in the $20-$23 range.

They go on sale occasionally at Costco. I know that’s the case when my local Costco doesn’t bother stocking them.

I saw them on sale at one of our local San Francisco Costco’s before Christmas for $19.99. But to be honest I think it’s a bad deal unless one needs both the charger and AAA batteries.

Saw them this past weekend. I passed on them after reading warnings on back. Especially water/air tight flashlights. I was going to get 2 packs of these. But then I read warnings and passed. Also, I have the Energizer charger and 4 pack x 2 of batteries I got at Walmart for $10. Regular retail was $20.

BTW, I like the AAA to C Cell AA to D cell converters. But this set FAILS.

AAA Converters to C on E bay use 2- 3 AAA cells to convert

AA Converters to D on E bay use 3 AA cells to convert.

What did the warning say?

I don’t think you’re going to find a safer battery than Eneloops. If they’re putting standard warnings on Eneloops, I can’t imagine the horrific warnings they must put on anything that uses lithium-ion batteries!

Edit: Found it on a pack I recently bought from Costco:

IMO, that is just a standard legal warning they put on to make sure they’re covered. I’m surprised they also don’t include a warning about “may contain peanuts” on it, too.

Yep, that is the warning. All of my lights that use AA are all water and air tight with O rings. Pricing is OK. If there converters accepted more than 1 cell each I might have bought 2 sets to take chances.

I think all NiMH can vent gas (hydrogen?) if they get hot enough. That was the problem for some NiteCore EA4 owners, who got their lights super hot, which vented gas and caused the rubber switch boots to blow up like a balloon!

Any of the FDK sourced batteries are what you seek.

You’re more likely to have a piano fall on your head, than you are to have your flashlight blow up while using NiMH batteries.

Chris

Yes, I’ve even had that happen on a Quark that gets extremely hot (especially for a AA light) on max if left too long. The Eneloops survived, but lost capacity. I still use them, though.

Yup. Anyone that has used anything with lithium cells in it (cell phone, laptop, bluetooth speakers/headphone, etc, etc) should have absolutely zero worries about Eneloops. They are incredibly safe compared to lithium-ion. Just don’t swallow them, and they won’t cause you any harm.

I think eneloops are back on sale for $20 (6xAA, 4xAAA). Standard eneloop though, not pro. Ends 2/26

This is what I saw yesterday.

IKEA has been selling them branded LADDA for some time., They are a very good battery and cost $7 for a pack of four.

I’ve been buying Ikea LADDA’s lately. I think they’re excellent. Made in Japan too.

Anyone live near an ikea in the NoVA/DC area? I’d love to get my hands on those but I’d lose more in gas driving out to woodbridge than I would saving the money on the batteries.

Good luck man. I have not seen any for some time now. I took a chance and found 1 last pack which was a return.

Anyone know if costco is still running the $20 deal?

I am sorry to report that ALL of the Costco’s in my area, CT and MA, no longer carry Eneloops. They have been deleted from their system.

If this is true in all stores, it could be an excellent chance to get the last ones at a steep discount if your store still has some

They’ll be back. Too much demand from Costco customers. They’ve come and gone before many times.

I think it’s a periodic somewhat crafty sales ploy by Eneloop. And when they say its “deleted” that may be true but what it commonly also means is that this VERSION of the Eneloop packaging has been deleted soon to be followed with a new packaging arrangement and of course a new price.

And that price will likely be eventually knocked down as well to make room for an even newer packaging version.

I think you can see a pattern here.

Well that makes sense because when I asked them to check other stores they were surprised to see they were deleted. The comment was that they were always popular.

Still perhaps a good chance to find a bargain on any remaining stock

costco.ca still has them listed as of May 17. I don’t recall ever seeing them in store though

I always thought they were in stores inventory but wouldn’t show up on the computer…
