First Look :

Flashlight in it’s box , a big box for a big flashlight :

Box has a small Warning on it , since many users couldn’t get their lights working for quite some time haha :

Inside the packaging you can find :

Package Contains :

  • Flashlight
  • Holster
  • User manual ( pic here! )
  • Lanyard
  • 2x o-rings
  • Charger (This particular light came with EU plug)

A closer look :

Here we have the DX80 ! The ultimate flooder flashlight , featuring 8* XHP70.2 powered by 8* 18650 batteries , making 5 digit lumen figures !

It has quite some mass , but for it’s power it is a must !

Dimensions time !

Langth : 213 mm
Head Diameter : 92 mm
Body diameter : 50 mm

Weight : 1.21kg

Flashlight in hand  . Well , even if it has a lot of batteries in it , it has a very nice balance , not making it hard to hold it for long times :

Let’s start from the top . We can see the head of the flashlight :

We can see the e-switch is on the front side , a nice big button :

Notice the little above the switch , it’s the OLED display , that has many uses as i will show you later :

Below the e-switch , there are some little holes which help the internal cooling fins :

Back side , with the charging port :

The psu it uses for charging , provides 19V 2000mA and has a standard 5mm x 2mm jack .

Charging the Battery from 0 to 100 % takes about 3 1/2 hours .

Time to see the interesting side . Flashlight features 8* XHP70.2 with an OP reflector :

The purple reflection is from the AR coating .

Reflector is OP , and has a very nice design :

Glass is AR coated , and can be seen a little here too :

Bezel is nice , crenelated and seems durable , quite important for the weight of this big light if you accidentally drop it :

If we unscrew the tube that holds the battery pack , we can see the contact points of the driver :

Uses a big gold plated spring in the center to carry the plus , and a brass ring to carry the ground .

The tube has two contact points that connect to these i mentioned right above :

You can also see a Warning by Imalent : Do not dismantle the battery !

Warning ! When you get the flaslight this is the place that you need to remove the plastic insulator (little “plastic sheet box mentions”) :

We can also see it features anodized threads (not very important for this flashlight since you don’t remove the tube a lot) , and has double o-rings :

Battery tube doesn’t have any knurling , but i didn’t have problem holding it :

At the “tail” you can see the Imalent DX80 logo and the info of the battery pack ( Battery Pack MRB08 3.7V 88.8Wh ) :

It has a nice stainless steel wire rope keyring , so you’re able to attach a lanyard or something similar :

Holster :

It comes with a nice holster so you can carry on the belt the flashlight , or just store it there to prevent damage :

How it works (&modes) :

  • Turn On/Off :
Press the e-switch momentarily to activate the light. Pressing it for about 1s turns the light off. It has mode memory , and will remember last used mode next time you turn on the flashlight .
  • Change Modes :
    With the light turned on, press the side switch momentarily to circle through the five different modes : Low1 (150lm) , Low2 (500lm) , Mid (1500lm) , High1 (5000lm) , High2 (13000lm) .
  • Access Turbo :
From ON or OFF , double click will activate Turbo (32000lm) mode .

A gif showing scrolling though the modes and accessing turbo :

(gif)

  • Lock / Unlock :
When flashlight is OFF , a long press will lock the light to prevent accidental activation . Another long press will unlck it .

(gif)

OLED display :

As i mentioned , DX80 has a small OLED display above the switch that is used in many ways …

While the flashlight is ON , with a triple click it will display all the important info : The mode youu’re right now , Battery pack voltage and battery icon (represents percentage) .

(gif)

While it is off , triple click shows the battery pack voltage only :

(gif)

While flashlight is charging , it displays the battery status :

(gif)

It has more uses of course :
For example , when battery voltage is less than 13V the battery symbol will flash 10 times every 1 minute to remind user to charge the flashlight .
It will also start flashing the Warning symbol 8 times every 30 seconds if the temperature of the flashlight reach 50 deg. Celcius .

Measurements :

Lumens :

  • Low1 (150lm) - 155 lm
  • Low2 (500lm) - 520 lm
  • Medium (1500lm) - 2080 lm
  • High1 (5000lm) - 5630 lm
  • High2 (13000lm) - 12930 lm
  • Turbo - 29600 lumens

Intensity : Coming soon…

My runtime test :

High mode :

Coming soon …

Turbo mode :

For 2m 30s it runs at over 27k lumens , and after that reduces to 6500 lumens .

Beamshots :

Low2 (A little under-exposed) :

Mid :

High1 :

High2 :

Turbo :

A shot on the side of a road , you can see it covers side to side , but it also reaches the building that is about 120m away :

More beamshots coming !

Conclusion :

A true Lumen monster ! Robust design , with lot’s of cool features , cleverly designed in every aspect . Good output on all (nicely spaced) modes , and of course output on Turbo is able to provide a massive output of about 30k lumens . Comes with a quality battery pack that consists of 8* 18650 cells , and has a fast internal charger .
Really impressed from Imalent this time  .

Comment if you want me to check something on the flashlight , or tell your opinion . Thanks !

Jona was kind enough to also provide a nice deal :

Interesting . But that keyring/lanyard loop is a throwaway. I use them but I wouldn’t trust one to secure my 2 pound light.

Tried ripping it with my finger but it didn’t break . Seems decent , but something safer/steonger would be nice .

Thanks for the review with very well taken pictures of the beam shot and DX80. Is the lumen measured at 30th second or at 1st second?

Thank you !
I take measurements about 25 seconds after turn on.

The code: GB11DX is effective code for US and EU Plug.

Nice review mate. Wish I had the $$$ to buy one of these meself.

My charger (EU plug) is fine , and good quality . It barely gets warm when i charge my DX80 . I think only some US plug chargers from the 1st batch were tricky …
