Prior Warning: I am NOT a flashlight expert by any means and I carry flashlights because I use them in my life: Lighting(of course), walking my dog, camping, snorkeling, emergency, etc. I am not a flashholic either. So in my review, I simply share my opinions with real user‘s experience and view.

Yes if you are looking for a quality EDC within $20! I give it 4 stars and the 1 star missing is for the tail switch.

Let me know if you’ve also found any new model perfect as a budget EDC light!

Just found the price is down by 5 bucks

This light does not have a latest generation LED that can deliver 1000 lumens,
I doubt that the supplied battery is a good 3000mAh brand one like Samsung or Sony

It looks like XML fake, at best 500-600 lumens with awful tint

for 30$ there are better options like Convoy or Sofirn C8 sized lights

Thank you for your info. I don’t have the light meter to test it. But from the naked eyes, it is not inferior much to my ThruNite TC10 V3. For the price, the light only is 19.99, and the 24.99 is the bundle price. The battery is not Samsung or Sony, but of good quality. Doesn’t like those marked really high but actully way less than real capacity cheap ones. Actually, your comments raised my interest to do a simple survey on internet(including come Chinese forums because this product comes from China) and many say that almost 99% of 18650 battery made by local Chinese brands are NOT able to be more than 3000 mah(technology barrier). Only a few companies can do that with their price close to Parasonic. Don’t know the truth. But it seems make sense that why there are so many cheap batteries/flashlights on Amazon claiming more than 3200 mah. Sign… To get more info, I did searched keyword “DLG battery” online and found a big plant in Shanghai. Looks like a big battery supplier.

yeah the battery might be a good one, just not of a big brand I know

upgrading the LED on a DTP star would definately bring something

also disassembly and picture of the driver and macro of the LED would be nice

haha I don’t want to destroy it as I am not an engineer. I did checked the Convoy and Thorfire. Convoy looks fine as it is created by a flashahoic and many Chinese flashaholics talked about it for years. But Thorfire, with due respect, I don’t think so. First the name, how many xxxfire or firn do we have these two years? I searched “C8” online and found many cheap models. I guess the body is public mode. But I can’t tell if the electronics and LEDs are better or authentic in Thorfire. I will hold my opinions here. But personally their models are not apealing to me currently. As for my HC10, it works pretty well and justifies the money.

Thorfire quality is good, real Cree LEDs
