No offence ,just being 100% honest , I don’t like it , it looks odd ,it looks like something found at the back of the shed & it’s just makeshift until a proper one can be made.
No offense taken. It’s a prototype, quick and dirty if you will. The purpose is to test function and gauge interest only. A production version would be slimmed down and made pretty.
Ok, I’m in the UK and can’t / won’t be buying one, but I have some suggestion if that’s ok?
For the handle, how about making it so that a mtb handlebar grip would fit on it? then it could be chosen by the new owner and would be unique – they are mega cheap too,come in leather, rubber, gel, foam etc etc.
Would also be good for colder climates. Maybe even get them anodised if it wasn’t massive hassle? Being an engineer I guess you may know a ‘plater’ anyway?

Yes, it would protrude a little. Significant cost? You can buy 1/4-20 knobs for a buck.
Not seeing the need for a speedy detachment, figure once the handle is married to the GT it’ll be as permanent as the switch boot…
Like the mount, like that the switch is easily accessible, like the potential to slim it down and make it more graceful, certainly doesn’t need to be robust to carry a 5 lb light.
Please keep me in the interest list, pretty sure 2 of my friends will also be interested and I may also want one for my gifted light, price considering.

In that case I would suggest to make the recess about half as deep, and ond both sides. In that case you can reverse the “plate” and can the handle also be used by lefties. BTW ment as a general remark: don’t make yourself things that are ready made on the market. This thread has some useful suggestions about cladding the handle bar.

This was talked about somewhere already. There will be a 82 degree countersink on both sides of the plate to be used with a flat head screw instead of a socket head to make it reversible.
Here’s a photo of the bracket design slimmed down a bit. I won’t have time to cut another one out today but maybe I’ll make a trip over to the shop tomorrow depending on what the weather brings. We have a possible ice storm coming in and I’m not wrapping my car around a tree for a flashlight handle. Otherwise it will wait till Monday since my Steelers play at 1:00 Sunday.
Edit: Crap. Made a mistake and did the radius on the wrong side on the bottom. Will correct that now.

You should actually be able to download their layout program from the OMAX website if you want to play around. It just won’t let you save anything without registration.

How’s the balance? When carried in a relaxed grip, loaded with 8 batteries, does the light aim up, down, or straight ahead?
