What you got today

Niiiice…

Ordered on 2/2, delivered on 2/9 - a new record! Beautiful little light. Form, size, modes and AA make this a perfect little EDC light and now I just have to get the AAA version. I am enthralled by the minimalist design and machining. You cannot detect the gap where the tailcap connects to the body. Nice smooth cool white beam with a decent hotspot. Lovin' it.Cool

As soon as I get my tax refund or collect payment on a few micromags I’m building for clients I’m getting an S2. I have the S1 (AAA) and I love it. Simple, small & elegant. How is the switch on the S2? The older batch had some issues that were to be corrected on these newer ones. How are the modes and beam quality?

JM:

Switch was a little stiff at first and it takes a few minutes to learn the feel of the half clicks to change modes. I sprayed a little RadioShack lube in the switch from the outside and gave it a series of clicks and that seems to have loosened it up just fine. I like the clicky vs twisty. It has no memory, so it always comes on in High. Light OP reflector gives it a nice smooth beam with a definite hot spot - very nice and pretty bright on High. Definitely has PWM, quite a loud hum on Low. Modes are well spaced. This is a helluva deal at $17.50, can't wait to try out the AAA version.

Big watchout on these is careful where you set it down - it likes to roll!

Glad to hear it! I will be ordering 2 of them in that case. One for me and one for the little lady. She’s been wanting a small light and likes them at 100+ lumen but hates twisty switches. I was afraid the S1 wouldn’t be bright enough for her but if the S2 has no memory and starts in high mode then it’s the perfect light for her.

Crelant 7G5 V2 arrived 15 minutes ago.

Your first impressions would be ????????

Nicely packaged in a box complete with accessories and extension tube which has 5 GITD rings installed on it.

There is also a GITD ring between the bezel and the lens. The huge aluminium reflector looks really well made and the output should be huge. The light I have currently with the most output is the Klarus XT20 it really is impressive with its wall of light and very decent throw specially when compared to the single headed but deeper reflector XT11.

I look forward to comparing this light with the XT20. If only I had enough 18650's!!! Busy bidding on some on Ebay.

Not related to flashlights, but to something E1320 recommended to use.

I have received today an EGO e-cigarette, I have given it a try, and I feel I will adapt to it, I bought it from Manafont, it is a copy for sure, but it is well made.

Romisen RC-T601 II from Shiningbeam. It's the custom 2-mode model. Looks pretty slick and works great. It's now my favorite C8.

Please , tell me more ..

me too!

I haven't bought a flashlight all year. I have been saving up for a new coffee roaster. I just got this from
Sweet Maria's.

This whirley popper is what I have been using for the last year or so.

Now I can go order that Dereelight dbs I have been reading about.

Nicely done, fnsooner!

I was actually just thinking earlier today about ordering some beans to roast. I used to have a cage for inside my bbq grill but never got around to using it and eventually sold it. I see you also have the Kitchenaid grinder, which is one I wanted but I went a little cheaper and got the Capresso Infinity. It might be time to follow your lead and invest in a decent roaster.

@fnsooner - I need one of those! I attempted to darken a light roast manually over a stove... guess how that went?

Man fnsooner I need to stop by for a cup of fresh Joe! I bet it tastes great!!!!!!!

Nice unit!

Here is my row of roasters. Each of them can roast a pound of greens. I also have a "corrado" which is a bread machine\heat gun roaster. Nice job holding off on the lights for the Gene Cafe.

@weiser701, I started about five years ago with a Cuisinart DBM-8 grinder. Like flashlights, the quest for the perfect cup of coffee is a slippery slope.

@turboBB, Yep, I bet that didn't turn out well if you didn't start out with green beans.

@EagleEye, anytime. Just give me some time to get a few batches under my belt.

Ha Ha Langcjl, I see you probably understand my slippery slope comment. I started to go the breadmachine/heatgun route, but broke down and got the Gene Cafe.

I'm very, very far from being a connoisseur of fine coffee. My future son-in-law is a Roast-master at a fine coffee company in the Seattle, WA area. Since he has entered our family circle I have come to enjoy fresh hand ground coffee brewed in one of several french presses we have recently acquired.

Back to the subject of this post my Trustfire TR-1200 showed up today. After awaiting its arrival for over a month from DX, only to discover they never had it in stock, I re-ordered it from a US based ebay seller and it was shipped priority mail for only $2 more than DX wanted. Can hardly wait for the last battery to top off its charge so I can install three matched 18650 batteries into this new illuminator.
